• Are registered members of Holy Cross parish

• Attend weekend mass regularly at Holy Cross

• Adhere to the school attendance policy

• Serve in at least one parish ministry or event (Celebration, Fall Festival, Cantor, Lector, Altar Server, Eucharistic Minister, Committee, Circle, Catechesis of the Good Shepherd, Adoration Chapel, Music Ministry, Landscaping, Painting, Building Repairs, Cleaning, Maintenance, etc.)

• Practice good stewardship of time, talent, and treasure

Regular school attendance positively contributes to the overall well-being of children, families, and the community. Students who attend school regularly are more likely to be better readers, graduate high school, and get higher pay in their careers. Our school wants your child to succeed. One way we do that is by telling families about the legal requirements of school attendance and the possible consequences of truancy.

Kansas statutes provide that a student is "truant" if they are absent without excuse, for a "significant portion" of the school day, for three consecutive days, five days in a semester, or seven days in a school year. When that occurs, then the school is to provide notice to the student's parent or guardian.

Excused absences include medical appointments, illness, religious observance, family emergency, active military duty, or funeral. All other absences are unexcused, except as indicated by school policy. After 3 consecutive days of absence due to illness, a doctor’s note is required for the absences to be excused.

I will be teaching another addition of Math+ this Spring for 6th to 8th graders.

The Math+ program includes 6 courses. Each Math+ course focuses on 1 major idea based on key concepts included in Stanford University’s introductory math sequence.

This Spring, the Math+ program will be focused on the concept of Infinity. Infinity can be defined as “something without any limit”. The concept has applications across disciplines but is particularly critical in mathematics where the concept has been at the center of the field since 1655 when John Wallis, a leading mathematician, defined its mathematical symbol. A letter about the course is attached.

The six-session course will be taught at Rockhurst High School on Wednesdays from 4:00 to 5:00 pm starting on Wednesday, February 1st, and ending on March 8th. The course costs $250.
