Attention 7th Grade Parents
As we begin preparing for the 2024-25 school year, we have an exciting opportunity for all incoming 8th grade students. Over the course of 6th and 7th grade, each student takes a quarter of Art, Spanish, STEM, and Computer Applications (STEAM). New next year, 8th grade students will be able to select two semester long exploratory classes to focus on. This will not only allow for students to be in a course of interest, but also allow for more in-depth work in the area of study.
On December 11, 2023, students listened to a presentation from the teacher of each course and then completed a Google survey ranking the exploratory offerings in the order of preference. Students will be placed according to preference for the 2024-25 school year. Please note, we will do our best to give each student at least one of their first or second choices, but will need to fill all available course sections. For example, a student may get his first and fifth choice for the year or his second and 4th.
The course presentation can be found HERE.

Free Access to SmartSocial for District Families:
As technology gifts may be high on our children's wish lists this season, we're thrilled to introduce our partnership with SmartSocial.com. This platform provides many resources to help safely navigate the digital world.
As the plethora of resources may seem overwhelming at a glance, we recommend starting small and perhaps delving into one of the following topics:
NSD2 is giving district parents/guardians free access to all of the SmartSocial tools. Just use this link to register: https://smartsocial.com/members?org=nippersinkrichmondburton
This free access is for our students' families only and valid until July 31, 2024. Please do not share the link with non-district families.
Let's make this holiday season not only joyful, but also a time for learning and growing in the digital age!
