Kindergarten Louie's Loot

Today Byam's Louie the Lion helped kick off our Kindergarten Home Literacy program, aka "Louie's Loot"!

4th Grade Bulletin Board...Thank you 4th Grade Parent Committee

Thank you to our 4th Grade parent committee who kept the tradition going of creating a new 4th grade bulletin board in the dining room to celebrate our fourth graders final year at Byam! Below is a photo of the bulletin board they created of our 4th grade staff and students.

Winter Benchmark Assessments

Over the next month our assessment windows are open for mid-year benchmark testing. We utilize, DIBELS, iReady, Fountas & Pinnell Benchmark Assessment System, writing prompts and other various work samples to monitor student progress.

Bus Push Week and PBIS Reboot

Next week will be highlighting our bus location for a push week while we also "reboot" our PBIS expectations for the new year. Students will be viewing our expectation videos and participating in scenario cards to develop problem solving skills.

Smart Watches

Over the past year, smart watches have become a popular item for many students at school. Many of these watches have the capacity to take photos/videos, text, call and access internet. These watches can be a distraction, but also could to We are asking that if students have these watches, they are kept in backpacks during the school day.

3rd Grade Visit from the Plimoth Colony

During each class visit, the Colonial First Families program museum educators will portrayws a resident of 1627 Plimoth Colony, using their life story to frame the program. The Museum Educators will spoke with a regional, English dialect of the 17th century and wore accurate reproduction clothing to bring the world of the Pilgrims to life. Using reproduction artifacts to enhance each classroom experience, our visitors sharee the story of the Pilgrims and Plimoth Colony from their unique perspective. Students will had an opportunity to ask their questions and handle some of the artifacts throughout the program.

Kindergarten Report Cards

Kindergarten Registration

2023-2024 SCHOOL YEAR KINDERGARTEN REGISTRATION

BY APPOINTMENT ONLY

(Approximately 15-minute appointments)

TUESDAY & WEDNESDAY, JAN. 24 & 25, 2023

9:00 a.m. – 6:00 p.m.

Click on the RESERVE YOUR APPOINTMENT link to enter parent/guardian contact information and preferred appointment time within a three-hour window. You will then be contacted to confirm a date and time for your registration appointment. Registration packets may also be dropped off at the School Administration Office, 230 North Road, Chelmsford, MA:

Monday – Friday; 8 a.m.-4 p.m., if you are not able to attend these two dates.

In addition to the completed student registration packet, the required documentation to submit is listed on the CPS Student Registration page.

HEARING AND VISION SCREENINGS January 17-18-19

We will be holding state mandated hearing and vision screenings for our Byam students January 17-18-19.

Grade level screenings include:
KG: hearing, vision, stereopsis (if not already submitted for entry to KG)

1st: hearing, vision, stereopsis

2nd: hearing, vision, stereopsis

3rd: hearing, vision, stereopsis

4th: distance vision

If you prefer your child not participate in our screenings, please send a note in writing stating this.

You may email (regana@chelmsford.k12.ma.us) or send in a written note to Nurse Regan no later than Thursday, January 12.

Each Byam student will be allowed to bring one special adult for the evening. There is a limited capacity, so sign up soon to save your spot! There are two time slots to try and accommodate all students. (Families with multiple children, or schedule conflicts, can choose either time slot.) Pizza and snacks will be available.
