Safe Routes to School
How does your student typically get to school or travel in their neighborhood? Across Oregon, Safe Routes to School Programs are working to make it safer, easier, and more fun for families to be active on the way to school. During the COVID-19 pandemic, active transportation has become even more important as a healthy, affordable method of getting around, highlighting the need for Safe Routes to School in all communities.
The City of St. Paul was recently awarded SRTS planning assistance from the Oregon Department of Transportation’s Safe Routes to School Program. The program will help us create a Safe Routes to School (SRTS) Plan to identify street improvements near St. Paul Elementary School, St. Paul Parochial School, and St. Paul High School, which will support families in getting to school safely. The SRTS Plan will also outline opportunities for education and engagement to promote walking and rolling to school.
We need your help to make the St. Paul SRTS Plan a success. Please share your experiences traveling to school and in your neighborhood, as well as your ideas for reducing barriers for students walking and rolling. You can participate in several ways:
- Share feedback using our interactive online map.
Tell us about your experiences getting to and from school using our interactive online map. Your feedback will inform where we should prioritize safety improvements. By sharing your feedback, you’ll be entered to win a walking or rolling safety pack ($50 value).
