A Note From Principal Jeff Brandt
December is here! The fall activity season has wrapped up and winter activities are under way. I want to thank and congratulate our students, coaches, and advisors for their participation this fall. Dickinson High School was extremely busy in a variety of areas. Activities, clubs, and organizations are an important part of keeping students engaged in the educational process. We are fortunate to have the amount of participation from students that we do and committed adults to advise and coach our students.
Good luck to our students, advisors, and coaches during the upcoming winter activities season!
I hope everyone has a wonderful holiday season. The holidays are a great time of year for many of us. However, for some it can be extremely challenging. It is a great time to be thankful for the many blessings that we have in our lives, while also being mindful of those who are struggling. I want to wish everyone a safe and joyous holiday season!
Jeff Brandt, Principal

The Academy Expo is a showcase of the educational programming we have at Dickinson High School and also a career & education fair to highlight our local businesses, organizations and regional training programs. This event is a great opportunity for over Dickinson students to learn and explore the many different career and education options.
In addition to the DHS Academy showcase, there will be 46 different companies/organizations in attendance who are excited to talk to our students! The Academy Expo is a chance for students to practice their career ready skills by networking, communicating, and engaging in the fair.
A career academy is a small, personalized learning community focused on a career theme. These programs include both college-prep curriculum and a path to career and industry certifications. An academy functions as a school within a school, grouping students into cohorts to follow a program of study.
Each career academy involves teachers from different curricular areas working as a team, and these smaller learning communities foster closer relationships between teachers and their academy students, and between members of the academy.
As students pursue their interests in their chosen academy, they are more engaged in learning and find relevance in what they do. All academies require a core curriculum of English Language Arts, Mathematics, Physical Education/Health, Science, Social Studies, as well as a variety of general/global electives to fulfill the requirements for graduation. Additionally, career academies may offer opportunities for job shadowing or internships, and some classes will be provided with the option to earn college credit while in high school.
