Walton High School will host Senior Epic Night for WHS seniors & their parents/guardians on Tuesday, October 3, from 6:00 to 7:00 p.m. Every senior attending will receive an extra rain ticket for graduation (May 17) at the night's end. We'll also be raffling five preferred parking spaces for the capping & graduation ceremonies for parents/guardians in attendance.

We have confirmed recruiters/college representatives from the following colleges/universities/military branches will be present:
- US Army
- US Marines
- US Navy
- US Air Force
- University of West Florida
- Troy University
- Florida State University Panama City
- Northwest Florida State College
- Emerald Coast Technical College

We will also have representatives to provide help in the following areas:
- Walton CareerSource
- Florida Bright Futures Application
- FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid): Creating an FSA ID for the student and parent
- Herff Jones: Graduation memorabilia and cap/gown company
- 2024 Walton High School Yearbook & senior picture dates
- WHS scholarship assistance
- Class of 2024 class sponsor
- Senior transcripts and FL Bright Future status
- Station to check the spelling of your child’s name on their Class of 2024 high school diploma

The Braves Marching Band will host the 8th grade Band Night at the football game on Friday, October 6. All 8th grade band students will perform with our band in both the stands and at halftime.

Our Alumni Night will be held on Friday, October 13. All Walton High School Band alumni are invited to participate and are encouraged to play with us in the stands & in a special halftime show performance.

Homecoming Week will be held October 10-13. (Please note that there is no school for students on Monday, October 9, as this is a teacher work day.) Dress-up days are below. Attire must follow school dress code.
- Tuesday, October 10 - Country vs. Country Club
- Wednesday, October 11 - Destination Day
- Thursday, October 12 - Pink Out
- Friday, October 13 - Blue & white

The parade will begin at 2:30 on Friday, October 13. The entry fee is $10 per vehicle, and the money will go to WHS Student Government which funds all Homecoming activities. Students must contact Mrs. Zodrow (zodrowca@walton.k12.fl.us / room 114) to participate in the parade. It will run the entire lakeyard loop. Line-up for WHS students will be at Walton Middle School's bus ramp at 2:00.

The Homecoming dance will be held on Friday, October 13, from 9:00 to 11:00 p.m. Tickets cost $10 and may be purchased during lunches through October 11. Students bringing someone from another school must pick up a form from the front office & return it by October 11. Middle school students & individuals over 21 are NOT allowed to attend.

Girls' dress code:
- Dresses must be at least mid-thigh in length.
- Midriffs should NOT be exposed (front & sides).
- Dresses may be strapless or have spaghetti straps.
- Excessive cleavage is not allowed.

Boys' dress code:
- Jeans or khakis

The theme for floats, hallways, and skits is "Braves Storm The Cities." Decorations for each grade level should be related to the following cities:
- Freshmen - New Orleans, LA
- Sophomores - Miami, FL
- Juniors - Nashville, TN
- Seniors - Las Vegas, NV

The PSAT will be given to 10th and 11th grade students on Wednesday, October 11. Students should be at school at 8:10 and look for their room assignments posted in Braves Blvd. and all stairways.

Any senior that is on track and has met the algebra I EOC and FSA ELA test graduation requirements has the opportunity to shadow a person of their choice for Career/Job Shadow Day on October 11.

Job shadowing gives our students the opportunity to network and learn from individuals in their field of interest and determine whether a career path is right for them. Seniors that choose to participate will not be missing morning classes, as we're giving the PSAT/SAT NCR test to other students that day.

Seniors that are interested in participating but need help connecting with an employer/business to shadow should contact Ms. Resch (reschw@walton.k12.fl.us / room 117). Seniors that participate should take a signed & dated note from the person they shadowed to the SSA office by October 13, so we can mark your absence as excused.

The PERT (Postsecondary Education Readiness Test) will be given on October 17 and 18. Seats are limited, so students are encouraged to sign up in the SSA office as soon as possible. The cost is $5, and the last day to sign up & pay is October 12.

Walton High School's FFA chapter is selling shirts for $25. Complete the order form at the link below by October 13. T-shirts must be paid for before they may be picked up. Cash or checks (made payable to Walton High School) are accepted.

The 2023 Miss Hometown Christmas Pageant will be held in the Walton High School Auditorium on Saturday, November 4, at 5:00 p.m. The pageant is open to contestants that attend school or reside within Walton County.

Divisions:
- Miss (grades 10-12)
- Teen Miss (grades 7-9)
- Junior Miss (grades 4-6)
- Young Miss (grades 2 & 3)
- Little Miss (kindergarten & 1st grade)

The entry fee is $40, and there is an optional photogenic fee of $10. Entry fees, registration forms, and emcee forms are due to Mr. Pert by Friday, October 20. A printable brochure may be downloaded at https://5il.co/25g5g.

Students will not miss class to attend, as we'll be testing other grade levels during the college visit times. Students must also have an extracurricular form on file in the main office to attend these college visits. Extra permission forms may be picked up in the SSA office.
