October Bulletin

I can't believe fall weather is finally here. I hope that Fall Break was rejuvenating for your family and your students are healthy and ready to get back to learning! The walkathon was a super fun event and student prizes will be coming shortly.

On behalf of the entire teaching team, I thank you for spending time with us at our annual family conferences. We love talking with you about your students and are available all year long for updates and conversations. All of us at Scotten School recognize that everyone has great success when home and school work together in partnership for your child's education. If you were unable to attend your conference, please reach out to your child's teacher and make another appointment to talk together.

We look forward to celebrating Halloween on Friday, October 29th here at Scotten, even if it's in a modified way. Children are encouraged to come in costume, but remember to save the gory makeup, full face masks, and weapon props for home.

Finally, remember that Grass Valley School District follows the state and county guidelines in helping keep our students healthy while on campus. Everyone must wear a mask when they are on campus, whether it's for a quick pop-in to the office, waiting for your student at pick up, or attending an in-person meeting.

Scotten gear is here! You may order shirts and sweatshirts using this Scotten School link. The online store is open through November 12th. Items will be delivered to the school and we expect them here the week after Thanksgiving.

I get it. You need to get to work. You need to get to practice. However, some drivers have put our students' safety at risk and we won't have that. When you are in our parking lots, you are NOT to drive around other cars who are dropping off or picking up their children. Students exit and enter through both sides of their car and there have been enough near misses that it needs to be mentioned here. In addition, drop off occurs for all students at the shade structure, not up top by the office and multi purpose room. Thank you for your attention to this matter.

November 7 - Daylight Savings Time ends - set the clocks back one hour

November 9 - Picture Day make ups; School Board meeting @ 6:30 pm

November 11 - Veteran's Day - no school

November 12 - Emergency Closure Day - no school unless we have to cancel a day before then

November 24 - End of Trimester 1

November 25 & 26 - Thanksgiving holiday
