October Newsletter
SHS Principal

What's Available?
Now that we are a month into school, students are settling into a routine. Our grade 9 and new students are getting a handle on where things are located in the building and our seniors are beginning to think more concretely about what comes next after high school. This month's newsletter shares a few resources to continue our partnership with families in supporting their students as well as some exciting upcoming events.
The Senior Parent/Guardian Night was held on September 27th. During this program, we shared information about the senior year, such as, college application deadlines, other avenues for after high school, important dates and deadlines, senior event information, and requirements. If you were unable to attend or if you want to refer back to the information presented please visit the links below:
- Slides to the Presentation (which includes the slides to the School Counseling presentation as well)
- Handout provided: Dates & Info to Know
Does your student need a quiet space to study or complete some work after school hours? The high school Learning Commons (library) is open until 4:00 pm Monday - Friday on school days. Students may report to the Learning Commons right after school to take advantage of the comfortable seating and work quietly using the research and reading materials, 3D printer, lego and building kits, and MORE!
Beginning October 2nd and running through May 23rd, SHS offers a Late Bus for all students in the afterschool hours who stay for extra help, to use the Learning Commons, or participate in a club or other activity. In order for a student to be able to use the late bus they must get a LATE BUS PASS from the faculty or staff member with whom they worked with after school. The late bus picks up at 3:30 pm in the back of the building (same location where the buses drop off in the morning). There are three late buses and each one makes different stops. You can review the late bus stops to identify which bus your student would take.
All teachers offer extra help after school on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays until at least 2:45 pm. Students can arrange extra help time with their teachers.
The Stoughton Public Library, located at 84 Park Street, offers a Tutoring Center for SHS students on Mondays from 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm. No registration is required. Students may simply show up at the Library in the community room. The Tutoring Center is staffed with licensed teachers and NHS Student tutors. The Tutoring Center is FREE.
SHS Parent/Guardian Teacher Conferences are scheduled for Wednesday, October 18, 2023 beginning at 6:30 pm and ending at 8:00 pm. For parent/guardian convenience and efficiency, all faculty will be located in one of four locations; the gymnasium, the cafeteria, the Black Box Theater or Chorus Room. Faculty will be grouped and spread out in alphabetical order. Parents/Guardians will be able to locate teachers more easily and without traveling across the building, which will also save time. Translators will be available for Portuguese, Haitian Creole, and ASL.
