Kindergarten Playdate
Welcome to our new Kindergarten students!
Recess fun has begun!
Our classrooms are getting right to work!
Math talk collaborative activity in 7th grade honors!
We are a School of Distinguished Instruction!
61 archdiocesan schools were honored for distinction in either Growth or Potential. SKS was one of 18 who received distinction for both areas!
There was an awards ceremony this past Thursday at St. Pius X Church. Thank you to Mrs. Jones for accepting this award on our behalf as I was unable to attend due to the K/1 back to school night. We will proudly display our award in the main lobby this school year. We have received this award in past years, however this year I feel especially proud of our school given that we took a brand new, and more challenging, form of the Terra Nova tests last year. I am so proud of our students and teachers who have made this honor a reality for us!
Come out to Porch Fest and see our Children's Church Choir!
Wayne Porch Fest
Saturday, Sept 23rd
420 St. David's (address of our porch)
Performance - 12:20 pm
The SKS Children's Church Choir will be performing on the "high school porch." Our choir leads off the performance at 12:20 pm on the The Leonard Family’s Porch at 420 St. Davids Rd.
Tips for a smooth carline!
~ Do not get out of your car to let your child out. Our teachers and 8th graders will help the K and 1st grade students until they get used to exiting the car on their own.
~ Please have a clear sign with your family's last name in the dashboard during afternoon car line.
~ Refer to the diagram above for reminders of the car line traffic pattern.
Uniform Reminders
Monthly Math Challenge
This year we will be starting a monthly math challenge for all students grades K-8! Your child will be bringing home a “problem of the day” calendar. While this activity is optional, I hope we can have full participation as this will be another way for students to practice basic math skills and engage in an opportunity for enrichment. When a student completes the calendar they should return it to school with their name and homeroom teacher written on the back. If scrap paper is used to complete the problems they should send that in as well. Showing your work is an important habit to practice! There will be an incentive each month to encourage students to participate. For September, the homeroom with the highest participation will receive a dress down day! I hope the students will take advantage of this opportunity and please reach out to me if you have any questions.
Thank you!
Mrs. Crowley
Save the dates: Catechetical Sunday and Monthly School Mass
Sunday 9/17 is Catechetical Sunday and we will gather at the 9:30am mass for a special blessing of all catechists/teachers. A parish coffee will follow. Who doesn't love a donut after mass?!
Front Office Reminders
All forgotten lunches, homework, sports gear, books, etc. can be dropped off in the school vestibule. Please label with your child's name and we will make sure they get it.
Early Pick Up Reminders:
* 2:20pm is the cut off for early dismissals.
* When picking up your child early, please be sure to sign out first at the front office. We will then call your child down to meet you. If your child is in the parish center when you pick up early, please be sure to walk over to the parish center to meet them there after you sign out.
Prayer Corner
Below is a family prayer in remembrance of 9/11.
Thank you for your support!
God Bless You!
