Principal Weekly Update
Greetings Conway community,
Welcoming families and the community into the life of the school is a valuable practice for us as an Expeditionary learning school. At Conway, we offer a variety of ways to participate int he school community. This week we held our first Coffee with the Principal, and brought a special treat, Churros and chocolate in honor of Hispanic Heritage month. It was a honor to have so many families participate in this important gathering where we highlight Glows (what's working) and Grows (areas for improvement). Families also participated in Crew and learned a little about our circles, they practiced a greeting, actively listened and recognized diverse perspectives. In fact, they were an example how EMPATHETIC COLLABORATORS ensure equity of voice, ideas, and points of views. Thank you to all the families that participated. From the sign in sheet, one name was randomly selected to receive one of our new Conway coffee cups. This month's winner - Maria Stevens.
We thank you for entrusting us with your student, but more than ever, we are excited about our future to achieve more than we thought possible.

Leadership Crews
As an expeditionary learning school, our definition of student achievement combines academic achievement, character, and high quality work. We believe academic success is built on strong character qualities of collaboration, perseverance, integrity, and compassion. And that character is shaped through engaging and challenging work. Our leadership crews extend that opportunity for our students beyond the classroom walls. Students submitted applications and letters of recommendation for each of these crews. Our learners understand, that EPIC is the way to be.
Theater Enrichment openings!
Does your student like to sing, dance, perform? Then this class is for them. This class meets Monday and Wednesday after school. If interested submit your interest here Conway Academy ASE - Theater/Center Stage: Fall Session.
Family Day at Lunch
Our first family day at lunch for 6th grade and TK was a success. We were thrilled to bring this back. This grade level event has not been hosted since 2020 and was a long time in coming.
Family Day at Lunch is a day where families can bring their student a special lunch or purchase lunch from our cafeteria to enjoy. Food purchased outside or made at home will be for your student only and must not be shared with other students.

Jog-A-thon
We are so excited to announce that Conway Academy of Expeditionary Learning’s Annual Jog-A-Thon will be held on Wednesday, October 4th. This event is the PTA’s biggest student involved fundraiser, with the money helping to support our school. On Jog-A-Thon day, students have the opportunity to run, walk, or skip as many laps as they can complete in 20 minutes. Please consider sponsoring your student on a per lap basis, or with a flat donation. Prizes pictured will be awarded to 5 individual students with the most money raised. Students will turn in collected pledged money between October 5th and 20th. Please make checks payable to Conway Academy PTA or scan QR code for online donations. Are you a PTA Member for the 2023-20024 school year? Did you know that PTA members are NOT committed to any volunteer responsibilities but members DO get access to exclusive benefits? Parent Teacher Association(PTA) members help advocate for improvements in the education, health and the well-being of all children and families of California. To become a PTA member, you simply make a $10 donation to Conway Academy PTA. A portion of the $10 membership donation will go to the California PTA and the rest will be used to support programs at Conway. To pay membership dues in cash, stop by the front office and pick up a PTA envelope. Fill out the required information and turn it in to your students' teacher or front office staff. Families who turn in membership dues before September 13 will be entered to win the School Supplies box pictured on the last picture. Winner will be announced at the next Crew Celebration on Thursday, September 14th. We are EPIC in all that we do. At Conway we're not passengers, WE ARE CREW!
