Reading Games: Making Literacy Fun!

In this interactive session, you will learn ways to engage students in reading, spelling, and vocabulary games, both in the classroom and virtually! We will explore ways to help students develop fluency and practice strategic thinking, all while playing a game! You will leave with games to play during whole group, small group, interventions, and in literacy stations or centers. You can also recommend these game formats to parents for practice or homework.

Increasing Student Learning & Teacher Clarity Using Learning Targets

Learning targets (intentions) are a best practice for establishing teacher clarity and ensuring we close the daily learning gaps. We will explore ways teachers create standards-based learning targets for a unit of study. We discuss the theory of action for creating and using learning targets, including what is and is not, a learning target and the impact on students and teachers.

About The Presenters
Randi Anderson is an elementary educator, blogger, and staff developer with 10 years of experience in the field. She taught third and fourth grade in title I schools in the DFW area. Before entering the classroom, Randi studied early childhood education and English as a second language at The University of Texas at Austin. She has a strong passion for making reading and writing authentic and engaging for her students.
