Mrs. Waggoner's News
September 17-21
Dear Parents,
This week student's began the schoolwide kindness challenge after a very motivating assembly. Students have been challenged to complete 5,000 acts of kindness at home, at school, and in everyday connections. I am already seeing students think about kindness within the classroom.
Student council forms went home! Please have those turned in by this Friday!
Students are working on earning warm fuzzies from me. Each compliment they receive, they receive a warm fuzzy. The students voted and we are trying to earn a PJ/stuffed animal day!
Students complete daily math that includes many skills. We complete and review each day. We began our weekly Math Matters" quizzes on Friday and overall I was impressed with the scores. These quizzes can be difficult if the students are not correcting their booklets and/or using their books on the quiz (which they are allowed to do). These quizzes will be on Friday unless there is a shortened week.
We are so close to memorizing our continents and oceans. If you student has yet to pass the quiz, please encourage them to study their world map at home. They will have the chance to retest on Wednesday.
STAR reports were sent home on Thursday. If you haven't already, please return them signed by Wednesday of this week.
National Walk to School Day is coming up!! October 10 will be here before you know it!! If you plan on walking you will need to be fingerprinted. You can go to the board office for this.
Just a reminder about the homework policy - students will be required to study their facts and spelling words weekly, read 20 minutes per night, language calendar activity, and this week a math practice packet/worksheet (all due Friday). If students do not turn in their homework, you will see them coloring in on their homework calendar.
Have a great week,
Mrs. Waggoner
