Warren Woods Middle School Update

Wolverine Walk

WWMS is proud to report another successful Wolverine Walk. Our students raised over $13,000 to support our PBIS initiatives in the building. Students had fun walking, running, dancing and being with their friends on a beautiful day. A WWMS family, the Ede’s, graciously donated their time and ‘smoker’ from their company, Ede’s Meaty BBQ to provide more than 250 hot dogs to our students. The money raised will go directly into supporting our behavioral supports. We are very proud of the students who participated in this day.

School Improvement

The WWMS School Improvement team will be seeking information from parents on Thursday, October 17, 2019 during Parent/Teacher Conferences. A perception survey will be available, asking questions about their understanding of grading, PBIS, and content expectations. These results will inform our work and revisions to this year's SIP (school improvement plan). The Equity Inventory (provided by Dr. Muhammad at 10/08/19 workshop) will be used by the team to assess inequities in our building’s programming and disciplinary procedures.

Enterprise High School Update

Enterprise has completed its NWEA testing for all sophomores and juniors. The Enterprise School Improvement Team and the Enterprise PLC team began analyzing the test results and will continue to look for teaching strategies to help students show improvements. Students will begin setting goals for the Spring testing shortly. Mr. Nostrant, Mrs. Cooper, and Mr. Hamblin will work with students individually to review improvement goals with students.

Enterprise attended the annual Total Sport field trip last week. Students have great fun playing basketball, dodge ball, volleyball, and many students and staff bowled on the day. Overall through the years, Total Sports has been a great bonding experience.

First Quarter exams will begin on Wednesday, October 30, 2019, and First Quarter will end on Friday, November 1, 2019.

ADULT EDUCATION

Adult Education has had a busy start to the year! We've registered over 200 adult students for Adult Education Classes so far this year and had 4 new staff members join the team.

Several students have already passed High School Equivalency tests/modules, so they're on their way to completing their HSE Credential. WWACE offers TASC testing so that students may earn their HSE Certificate from the State of Michigan. We also prepare students for GED and HiSET, which can be taken at other sites.

The program was also awarded a grant through ProLiteracy for free Voxy licenses for women in ESL classes. We are onboarding for the grant this week.
