*Asynchronous Remote Learning Day for all students
February 18, 2021
The amount of support and positive energy from all stakeholders for our school system is outstanding. Hemlock Public School District's mission and vision is to innovate, collaborate, and educate our community of learners. We remain committed to communicating with you every week. This marks our 24th week of the 2020-2021 school year.
This week on Monday, students were off, but our staff was working with professional development. Their commitment to learning extends to their craft of teaching and learning; our instructional team spent time learning about technology improvements and ways to increase productivity and student engagement.
Our winter athletic teams are competing; home events can be viewed at NFHS TV and many of our road games. Despite the weather forecast, it will not be long, and spring sports will start practicing and preparing for their season.
It continues to be exciting to report that we have not had any new school-related cases of COVID-19 or school-related quarantines since our return to school after the holiday break. Click here to review our COVID-19 Dashboard with data updates in real-time. This link brings pertinent information together into one easy-to-access place.
We have examined our February and March calendar and, based on our staff's scheduled 2nd dose of the COVID-19 vaccine and have adjusted the schedule as shown below. This provides everyone advance notice to plan accordingly as we are uncertain about the various reactions staff may have we have made these days asynchronous.
Over the last few weeks, we have gathered feedback regarding our 2021-2022 calendar and will be processing that in the coming weeks. Do not hesitate to give me a call at 989.642.5282 or send me an email to killingbeck@hemlockps.com to share your thoughts. If you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to let me know.
All the best,
Don

Hemlock Youth Baseball/Softball Registration
2021 registration is now open for Hemlock Youth baseball and softball!! Visit www.hemlockyouthbaseballandsoftball.com to find the online registration. We can't wait to get the season started!!!
Registration closes 3/4/2021 so spread the word!
Soccer Registration
Spring Soccer registration is now open through April 11th. We ask that when you register you choose the "pay by check" method and not pay until you receive an invoice. Once you receive an invoice you will then be able to log in and pay by check or credit card. This will give us the ability to cancel the season if needed due to Covid or lack of numbers without having to issue all of you refunds. We are also waiting on park board approval and they will meet on March 1st.
Our plan for this spring is to split the two large fields into 4 smaller fields 1 for each division. Teams will be small, we are hoping for 7v7 in the oldest division and 4v4 in the youngest division. With small teams we will be in need of many coaches, so please consider signing up to help. This will be entirely dependent on getting enough kids to register so please spread the word. The game days will be April 24, May 1, 8, 15, 22, and June 5th. They are all Saturdays so they do not conflict with weekday baseball/softball contests.
Register by logging in to www.hemlockyouthsports.com
Water Bottles & Winter Clothes
Please make sure your child is bringing a refillable water bottle to school each day. The drinking fountains are still turned off, but the bottle filling stations are operating.
Also, please make sure students are dressed for the cold weather. Students should be wearing snow pants, boots, hats, and gloves outside each day to stay warm.
Happy Birthday!
