MMS WEEKLY UPDATE

Just a reminder to please call in advance if you are picking up your student early from school. You can also send them with a note or email our attendance secretary at lblankenship@meridian.wednet.edu.

It gets a little busy in the office at times and it's helpful to know who is getting picked up early before you show up. That will ensure your student is sent out in a timely manner.

May 24-26 - 7th graders will be visiting Whatcom Falls Park during the school day from 8:00am to 2:30pm. Permission slips have been sent home. Please fill out and return to the office.

The first 2 days will involve hands-on games and activities to teach environmental science concepts in the field studies of plants, animals, water and soil.

The last day will involve a service learning project to remove invasive species from the Whatcom Falls area.

Monday May 16th (leave for camp):

• Student drop off: enter through front doors and bring gear to the big gym between 7:45-8:00 a.m. - Students will then head to 1st period and we will leave about 8:45 a.m.

• Sleeping bag/blankets and pillow in a garbage bag labeled with student name on it

• Duffle bag or suitcase for clothing/towel/toiletries

• Pack with student (do not drop off in gym) a small backpack with:

• Lunch for the day or pick up sack lunch in cafeteria

• Water bottle

Wednesday May 18th (return from camp):

• Parents: be at MMS by 3:00p.m. to pick up your child. They will not be able to take the bus home.

Mark your calendars and make those summer plans! June 14th is the official last of school. We will be having 8th grade promotion that day and will be sharing more details of that in the next few weeks.
