A LOOK AT WHAT IS GOING ON AT MART I.S.D.
Gear Up Week
September 25, 2023
District News:
GEAR UP: College, Career, Success!
Gaining Early Awareness and Readiness for Undergraduate Programs (GEAR UP)Is a partnership grant between the Education Service Center Region 12, school districts and other vendors/colleges. The three main objectives of this grant are to:
- increase the academic performance of students in preparation for postsecondary education
- increase high school graduation rate and participation in postsecondary education
- increase knowledge of students and families concerning postsecondary education, options, preparation and financing.
Mart ISD is blessed with the best GEAR UP Coordinator of all - Mrs. Tami Kadlacek. Mrs. Kadlacek regularly posts Mart High School Gear Up Activities on the Mart ISD Gear Up Facebook Page which can be found here: https://www.facebook.com/martgearup. The group has taken college tours, participated in job and career fairs, prepared for college testing, and taken part in leadership seminars and activities. Several students were able to visit Washington DC through the program last summer. Gear Up has been a great program for Mart ISD and we hope to continue it in the next cycle of the grant.
Bond Election
On November 7, 2023, Mart ISD is asking voters to approve a $50 million dollar bond proposal. This proposal will be a no-tax increase proposal which promises voters that their tax rate will stay the same. The bond proposal targets new 313 projects in the area to provide the increased revenue. The most urgent project to be funded is an addition to the elementary campus where the district has seen substantial enrollment growth.
