Map Testing- Continues!
Map Testing will begin for all scholars begins this week!
MAP testing is a great way for our scholars to show how much they have grown and an awesome way for us as teachers to use this data in our planning and lesson designs. MAP tests are designed to measure growth over time, so that makes them very different than our "state tests" known as Georgia Milestones. MAP tests give you tons of great information in regards to achievement at this moment. Here is a great article to read that will give you more information in regards to MAP testing.

We will test our scholars three times a year in the areas of Reading, Math, and Language Usage. These scores will help us determine growth, mastery, lesson designs, and class choices. We will send home reports with scholars once we have concluded the testing.
Notes from Ms. Raeburn
A huge thank you to all our families and community as we return from Hurricane Irma! We will be rescheduling School Pictures and our Teacher of the Year Celebration! Please watch for those dates in my next newsletter! Also, we will be rescheduling all sporting events that were missed! I will send those new dates out in our newsletter as well!
I am so thankful to be part of such an awesome, tight knit community of people who help others! My own family lives on Wilmington Island and we are still out of power, but Ms. McNeal, the Principal of Richmond Hill High School, came to my rescue yesterday. She offered up her home and my kids and I had a hot meal and a hot shower! We are so thankful to be part of the Bryan County Community! #OneBryan INDEED!
A few important dates to remember for September are: Wednesday 9/20 and Thursday 9/21. September 20th is our Local School Council meeting and September 21st is our annual Title One meeting. Please join us! We love talking about all we have planned and begin to think about what else we can do to make sure our scholars are learning, loving, growing, and thriving. I am proud to be your principal and would love to hear from you! If you have a concern or a comment, please do not hesitate to email or call me: eraeburn@bryan.k12.ga.us or 912-626-5050 or 912.255.0630.
Thank you for your partnership and commitment to making #BeBCMS the best middle school on the planet!
Whatever I Need!
WIN period is an elite time for our scholars to work on goal setting, grade checking, acceleration of curriculum, and enrichment.
CLUBS will begin this week! Students will be offered the choice of clubs during WIN time on Wednesday and will be placed and assigned to clubs on Friday. We are excited about the opportunities we will be able to provide during CLUB time and we will make every effort to make sure scholars get their first, second, or third choice in CLUBS.
The current WIN Schedule looks like this:
Monday- Goal setting and Grade Checking
Tuesday- Social Emotional Learning (Kindness Project)
Wednesday- Social Emotional Learning OR Academic Enrichment
Thursday- Social Emotional Learning (Kindness Project)
Friday- Clubs or Reading Time

As a schoolhouse, we are continuing to support Wertheimer Middle School, home of the HAWKS, in the Lamar School District in Rosenberg Teaxs. HWMS is home to 449 scholars-- much like our own school house. We will be collecting basic school supplies to ship to them. The goal is to get as many pencils, folders, erasers, glue sticks, markers collected by Friday for shipping this weekend. They return to school Sept. 11th. Our thoughts and prayers are with our HAWK friends as they rebuild and get ready for school.
Grade levels have put together amazing ways to support our friends in Texas. Please look for information to come up via each grade level to learn about what the grades have planned in our commitment to spreading KINDNESS and helping all those affected in Texas. #BeBCMS #BCMSGives
*We will continue work on this project Thursday and Friday of this week!
