KISU NEWSLETTER
Number 487 ...................................19th June 2021
Director's Message
We had lots of plans for next week but because of the limitations on travel these will have to be delayed.
Reports were due out today. They will now be issued as soon as we can make plans for the administrative staff to get to work. We are hoping to be able to do this on Monday.
Certificates, Awards and the Yearbook are all ready to be collected and will be available to anybody that can get to school and will still be available when school reopens in August.
If students still have books to return then they should be sent by boda boda so that the library can clear them and reports can be issued. This is particularly important for Year 11 students as their password for collecting their IGCSE results will not be issued until all books are returned. If you need more information please ring 0752 711 789.
At the end of each school year we always have to say goodbye to a number of students. To our DP2 class I wish them all the best as they move to the exciting world of university education. To the students leaving KISU for other schools around the globe I know that your teachers have prepared you well and that you will be successful wherever you are going.
To my colleagues who are moving on and those remaining at KIS, I owe you a great debt and no words can really express how much I appreciate all you have done, particularly in these really trying times.
Both teachers and students need to do their best to relax and recharge for the year to come and I hope it will see us gradually move back towards normality.
Once again a really big THANK YOU to every single member of the KISU family. Stay safe, be happy and try to enjoy the holidays.

KG1 & 2
Dear KG1&2 parents and children,
I would like to take this opportunity to thank all the children for their hard work, enthusiasm and resilience. They have come a long way and have achieved a lot. Well done friends, we are proud of you all.
To our dear parents, myself and Ms Shamim say thank you very much for your continued support throughout the academic year and especially during this difficult time of the COVID 19 Pandemic.
Happy holidays and please stay safe.
From Ms Eva.
KG3
Dear KG3 children,
On behalf of Nicole, Terry and myself, I would like to take this opportunity to once again express how very proud we are of the progress and personal goals each and every one of you has made throughout this academic year, in spite of the challenges of beginning and ending online. In particular, the ongoing maturity and confidence everyone has shown during the last couple of weeks has shown us that you are more than ready for Reception!
Big hugs from Ms Jackie and the KG teaching team. XXX
Reception
Dear Reception,
It has been short but sweet! I have enjoyed being your teacher for the past term! Thank you for being such wonderful learners. I wish you all the best in Year 1- remember to listen carefully, try your best and believe in yourself! Making mistakes is part of the learning process- so don’t worry about getting things wrong! Be nice, be kind and make yourself and us proud!
From Ms Dima Dakik
Year 1
Dear Year 1 children,
Farewell, You have been so AMAZING this Year. Keep on Shining!
From Ms Nsherura and Ms. Jayne
Year 2
After 13 years at KISU, I made the decision to leave and focus on my young family. It has been my greatest pleasure nurturing children and seeing them maximise their potential.Over the years, I have worked with a number of professionals from the custodians to the directors and have learned invaluable life lessons from each and every one.
My class this year was exceptional and my teaching career at KISU really couldn't have ended on a happier note. Everyday, they showed up ready to learn and enjoyed the learning journey. I was especially blown away by their kind words of appreciation and eagerness to overcome challenges. I notice that they alway celebrated each other's achievement and when they noticed someone struggling they offered a helping hand. As they move to Year 3, I wish them all the best!
In conclusion I want to extend a vote of thanks to Dr. Sudhir Ruparelia and management for the opportunity afforded me.

Year 3
Dear Year 3 Students,
WOW Year3! What a year we shared together! Whether online or in class, we worked hard, made new friendships, and shared numerous laughs. I hope you have a relaxing break!
Dear Year 3 parents,
We did it! I would just like to thank you for your support during our Year 3 adventures. Reflecting back, I cannot believe how fast the year has gone by. It has been an absolute pleasure teaching your children and seeing their growth, potential and maturity over the year. I hope you enjoy the break as much as the children and teachers :).
From Ms A.
Year 4
The year four class capped off the year with a topic finale where students presented a mini-project on a modern explorer. We had portraits, symbols, quotes, and interesting facts to fill us in on the details of inspiring explorers, learning about what it means to be courageous and break barriers from them. Students showed courage throughout the many changes and transitions experienced this school year and can be extra proud of their progress and accomplishments in learning through the adversity they faced. Year 4 is in the books and it was certainly a year like no other.
Dear Year 4,
Thanks to all of you for all your hard work and the perseverance you have shown this year!
From Miss Haskins and Ms Rose
Year 5
Dear Year 5,
Wow what an unusual year with a wonderful class of children. Thank you to year five for being an awesome, flexible and principled group to have taught online, in person and online again. I am incredibly proud of how you have all developed not only as learners but also extra-curricularly too. I thoroughly enjoyed our assembly day when you all dressed up in togas, but my highlight has to be Harry Potter Day for World Book Day. You were the wonderful witches and wizards and it was so wonderful to spend the day doing fun activities and drama with our homemade wands aka sticks! Good luck to you all for next year and have a wonderful summer holiday.
From Ms Holmes
Year 6
Dear Year 6,
You’ve done it Year 6! Officially, you are no longer members of KISU’s Primary school! You have all shown great resilience this year; online, on-campus, back online! As you move into Secondary school, don’t forget the many valuable lessons you’ve learning during your years in Primary school. Be bold, be caring, be inquirers, and be open-minded! A new chapter begins, enjoy the adventure!
From Mr. Polan and Ms Janet
Secondary Vice-Principals on End of Year Awards
The awards assembly video is to recognize all of the students who have excelled academically in one way or another this year. Congratulations to them! The certificates can be picked up from Ms. Jolly and must be picked up by an ADULT.
If any student did not get an award this year, take a moment to set yourself a goal. Aim to get the attitude to learning award or Honours Award in January next year. We believe every student in KISU has the potential to achieve this. Everyone of us has had to overcome some form of challenge this year, whether it be COVID, moving to a new school, online learning, etc. Every member of our school community should feel proud of what they have achieved this year.
We would also like to thank all of our teachers for taking the time to record such lovely messages for the video and for making it something very special. A special thank you to Faisal who worked tirelessly to record, edit and compile such a fantastic video.
We hope you enjoy the awards video!
