Cannon Elementary 4th Grade

This week, our fourth grade scholars began experiencing regular iPad use in their classrooms! Scholars are learning as they explore Edmodo, IXL, Spelling City, Keynote, and a number of other Apps and websites. Scholars put their skills to the test by taking an iPad Skills Test to receive their iPad Licenses for their Trust Cards, and they continued practicing teamwork with Community Circle activities in their classrooms.

Esta semana, nuestros estudiantes de cuarto grado comenzaron a utilizar su iPad diariamente en el salón de clase. Los estudantes están aprendiendo mientras exploran Edmodo, IXL, Spelling City, Keynote, entre otras applicaciones y páginas de internet. También tomaron una Prueba de Habilidades para poder recibir su Licencia del iPad para sus Tarjetas de Confianza. De la misma manera, practicaron el trabajo en equipo con actividades del Círculo de Comunidad en sus salones de clase.

Math homework will begin this week. It will go home each Monday and will be due on Friday. In addition to weekly homework, we ask that scholars practice their multiplication facts 10-15 minutes each night. Fact fluency will help them gain confidence and efficiency in problem solving. Each Friday there will be a math homework quiz based on the week's homework.

La tarea de matemáticas comenzará esta semana. Los estudiantes llevarán la tarea a su casa los lunes, y deberán regresarla a la escuela los viernes, de cada semana. Además de la tarea semanal, le pedimos a los estudiantes que practiquen las tablas de multiplicación por 10-15 minutos cada noche. Esta práctica los ayudará a mejorar su confianza y eficiencia cuando están resolviendo problemas. Cada viernes habrá una prueba corta de matemáticas, basada en la tarea de esa semana.

Weekly Home Reading Logs will also begin this week. Scholars will need to read 100 minutes at home each week. Reading Logs begin and are due each Monday, excluding weeks with holidays or the end of a 9 weeks grading period. Scholars should read books that are on or close to their reading level. They may read silently, aloud to an adult, or take turns reading with an adult. A paper copy will be sent home this week, but a digital version will replace this soon.

El Registro de Lectura Semanal también comenzará esta semana. Los estudiantes deben leer 100 minutos en casa, cada semana. Los Registros de Lectura incluyen la lectura de lunes a lunes. Cada lunes, los estudiantes deben regresar el registro a la escuela, con excepción de la última semana de cada período de calificaciones. Los libros deben estar al nivel de lectura del estudiante. Pueden leer en silencio, en voz alta con un adulto, o tomando turnos con un adulto. • Students will transition into taking their iPads home with them in a few weeks. Look for updates in our newsletter.
• You can support our PTA by becoming a member or by ordering a Cannon STEM t-shirt for $12. Order forms were sent home last week and are due Friday, September 13th. Let us know if you need another copy of either form!
