Our first volunteer event this year is the 13th Annual Kiwanis (a branch of Key Club) Butterfly Festival. The Southlake Town Square website writes, "Experience the beauty of hundreds of Texas butterflies inside a 600-square-foot, landscaped mesh tent beneath the Southlake Town Square pavilion. Watermelon is provided so children of all ages can feed the butterflies and interact with them. On Sunday at 5 p.m., the butterflies will be released from the pavilion. This event raises funds for local children’s charities, including the Children’s Miracle Network."

The following volunteering times are available:

• Thursday, September 8th at 5 p.m. (setup)
  
• Friday, September 9th from 4:00-6:00 p.m. (working event)
  
• Saturday, September 10th 8:30 a.m.-12:00 p.m., 11:30 a.m.-3:00 p.m., 2:30 p.m.-6:00 p.m.
  
• Sunday, September 11th from 2:30 p.m.- 6:00 p.m. (clean up/ tear down)
  

This event is located at the Southlake Town Square Pavilion.

Summer is officially over, and school is back in session! There are many great things in store for the Birdville High School Key Club. We believe that with the help of all of our members (returning and potential!) we can truly impact our friends, teachers, school, and community.

We realize that everyone has a busy schedule and that meetings can sometimes be dreaded. This year we hope to make meetings more fun and convenient for everyone. There will be two meetings a month on different days of the week, so in case you can't make one day of the month, you can hopefully make the other. The agenda for each meeting will be attached to the newsletter for that month so you can access the meeting information at home! There will also be snacks and refreshments at meetings in hopes of encouraging a bigger turnout. Meetings should be fun, not a chore!
