The Scholastic Book Fair is Coming to Town!

Scholastic will host it's fall Book Fair at SGE on October 24th-28th.

Monday 7:15-3:00

Tuesday 7:15-3:00, 4:00-7:00 (Reading Under the Stars will be from 5:00-6:30pm)

Wednesday 7:15-3:00

Thursday 7:15-3:00

Friday 7:15-12:00

Health Screenings

Burnet CISD health services began conducting state-mandated vision, hearing and scoliosis (spinal) screenings at all campuses throughout the district. If your child wears glasses or contacts, please make sure that he/she brings them to school daily as they will need them during the vision screening. You will be notified by the nurse ONLY if medical follow-up is necessary based on the results of the screenings. The screenings completed at school do not replace your child’s need for regular healthcare and routine check-ups.

All new students to BCISD and all students in Pre-K, Kinder, 1st grade will have a vision and hearing screening.

World's Finest Chocolate is Complete!

The World's Finest Chocolate Bar fundraiser was concluded on Friday, October 21st.

If you have not returned your money, please do so ASAP. Once we have all outstanding money accounted for, we can finalize the order for prizes and complete the GRAND PRIZE drawings!

Thank you for the overwhelming support with this fundraiser! Our SGE families sold a lot of chocolate! We'll be sure to advertise our sales accomplishments and prize winners soon! Stay tuned!

Turkey Trot & Fall Carnival!!!

Mark your calendars now! This is BIG!!

In addition to a Turkey Trot, Shady Grove is hosting a Fall Carnival on Saturday, Nov 12th!!! Fall Carnivals were a long-time Burnet Elementary tradition in years past, and we are so excited to bring back the fun! The Turkey Trot and carnival will be free events for the families of our Shady Grove community; just bring a canned good for entry! There will be games, bouncy houses, a book walk, face painting, snacks, and more! We need your help to make this a memorable event for your child! We’re asking for prize donations (candy, stickers, pencils, temporary tattoos, party favors, etc). Please send any donations to school by Friday, November 1st.

Parent Teacher Conferences

Parent-Teacher conferences are well underway and will continue through October 27th. Be watching for communication from your child's teacher. Our teachers are looking forward to the facetime with you to discuss your child's academic achievement and goals.

Caught with Character!

High five to our Caught with Character SUPER HEROES this week! They were recognized for:

-growth, cooperation, and being responsible for his learning!

-being a leader in class, making responsible choices toward his learning, and for his respectful behaviors in class as a good listener.

Christmas Card Contest!

SGE has been selected for the district's Design a Christmas Card Contest! The 1st place card that is selected will be the one that Central Office sends out for the district Christmas card. Kinder, 1st, and 2nd grade students will participate and will complete their projects in art class. We can't wait to see the festive art they produce!

Prizes

1st place- $75.00

2nd place- $50.00

3rd place- $25.00

Awards will be presented at the December 12th Board Meeting!

Student Badges on Backpacks

Please help your child keep his/her school issued student badge attached to the backpack, and that the backpack comes to school every day. Badges are used during breakfast for meals. They also help with campus safety.

Beginning October 24th, students who do not have their badge with them at breakfast will need to get a badge from our grade level box of Borrowed Badge Cards. This will delay students as they go through the breakfast line. Please help you child have their badge each day.
