December 2023 NEWSLETTER (Vol. 2, Issue 4)
Letter from the Superintendent
Dear Tiger Community,
I trust this letter finds you well and that the holiday season brought joy and warmth to your homes. As we embark on a new year, I am excited to share the success of our Gifts for Kids Project during December.
Our Tiger Trot event at the end of November brought our community together in support of a common cause. Through the collective efforts of students, parents, teachers, and community members, we raised enough funds to make this year's Gifts for Kids Project truly special.
I am thrilled to announce that, thanks to the support of our sponsors, every student in our school district received a Tiger Blanket before winter break. The smiles on the faces of our students were priceless, making this initiative a memorable and impactful experience for our entire community.
Thank you to all the sponsors who played a crucial role in making this project a reality. I am sincerely grateful for your partnership in this endeavor.
The success of the Gifts for Kids Project not only highlights our community's dedication to supporting one another but also demonstrates the positive impact we can achieve when we unite for a common goal. I look forward to another year of shared achievements and positive contributions to the growth and development of our school district.
Warm regards,
Tim Webster
Superintendent
St. James R-I School District
GIFTS FOR KIDS: Wrapping Our District in Warmth!
The Gifts for Kids Distribution was once again a success. Each and every student in our district was gifted a cozy Tiger blanket to keep them warm this season! This wouldn't have been possible without the incredible support from our generous Tiger Trot sponsors. Your commitment and generosity have made a real difference in our students' lives once again this year. Thank you for spreading warmth and joy throughout our school community!
Tiger Collaboration: Building Bonds and Festive Memories!
In a recent collaborative effort, Mrs. DuClos and Mrs. Stites' classes brought together 5th graders and their 1st-grade buddies for a special project. Inspired by "The Reindeer Wish" by Lori Evert, students worked on crafting charming hat ornaments. Beyond the creative aspect, this initiative played a significant role in strengthening bonds across different grade levels.
The positive interactions observed during this festive project not only showcase our students' talents but also contribute to the warm and supportive atmosphere we value at St. James R-1 School District.
Tigers Spreading Cheer with Heart!
Students in St. James Middle School's citizenship class demonstrated remarkable dedication to making a positive impact during their recent mission. For three consecutive weeks, they energetically sold hot chocolate every morning with a clear goal – bringing joy to the holiday season for children in the St. James community.
Their commitment paid off significantly! Not only did the students raise over $1000, but they also handpicked dozens of toys to donate to the St. James Sports Club. This outstanding accomplishment truly showcases their commitment to giving back and making a meaningful difference in the community.
A heartfelt thank you goes out to Bruce Courtney and the St. James Sports Club for their invaluable guidance and unwavering commitment to lifelong service. It's through these community partnerships that we empower our students to be true contributors to society.
Celebrating Excellence: High School Student Achievements Shine Bright!
At the December Board of Education meeting, we took a moment to proudly honor our exceptional students for their outstanding performances and post-season accomplishments in Fall Athletics and Activities. Their dedication, hard work, and sportsmanship have truly illuminated this season with a remarkable glow.
In recognizing and celebrating these achievements, we applaud the resilience and commitment displayed by our students. Their accomplishments not only contribute to the success of our athletic programs but also inspire and unite our school community.
As we continue to foster an environment that encourages excellence, let's carry this spirit forward into future endeavors. Congratulations to our talented students for their remarkable achievements!
Tiger Pride Echoes Through the Capitol!
Last month, high school choir students performed at the Capitol, singing joyous holiday tunes. A huge thank you to State Representative Tara J. Peters and Aide Abby Ice for giving our students an unforgettable tour of the Secretary of State's office, the whispering gallery, and more. It's moments like these that truly foster our commitment to empowering students through caring relationships and community partnerships.
