Dear Hyde-Addison ES Families,

Thank you for remaining so steadfast, as we prepare for the school opening decision from Mayor Bowser and Chancellor Ferebee, on July 31, 2020. Regardless of the pronouncement, the Hyde-Addison ES team will continue to prepare to support our students and school community. Will will share updates and next steps, as applicable. For those who signed up to engage as members of the Equity and Anti-Racism or the Hybrid Learning Task Force, you will receive the following July 31, 2020 calendar invites:

• Hybrid Learning Task Force Meeting, 9:00am-10:00am
• Equity and Anti-Racism Task Force Meeting, 2:00pm-3:00pm

Hyde-Addison Elementary School

The Free and Reduced-Price Meal Application is live online at https://www.myschoolapps.com/Application. Additional languages are available on the DCPS website at www.dcps.dc.gov/food.

DC Public Schools will hold additional town halls next week in Spanish on July 27 at 5:30 p.m. (RSVP at this link) and in Amharic on July 28 at 5:30 p.m. (RSVP at this link). The town halls are an opportunity for families to learn more about the current thinking around planning for a safe and strong reopening for the 2020-2021 school year.

Students who have misplaced their current school year SY19-20 KRF cards can get replacement cards at one of two upcoming events: Columbia Heights Recreation Center on Tuesday, July 21 (10am-12pm) or Deanwood Recreation Center on Wednesday, July 22 (10am-12pm). Current KRF cards are valid through Tuesday, September 29. Additional events maybe scheduled later this summer. Your involvement with the Hyde-Addison Parent-Teacher Association (PTA) – which includes all families of students enrolled at Hyde and requires no membership dues – helps make our school stronger and successful. For the 2020-21 school year, we will be continuing our tradition of fun and community-oriented activities for everyone, with adjustments necessary given the current conditions.

As we all adjust to school in the time of COVID, your support of the Hyde-Addison community is more important than ever! There are many ways to make your financial contributions, 100% of which will go directly to support our students and staff.

To stay connected to the PTA and informed about activities, events, and other important news, we invite you to sign up for the Hyde-Addison Families mail group, where we can ask questions, share information, and discuss issues relevant to our students and the school community.

Schools are required to verify every student’s immunization compliance as part of enrollment and attendance. All students must be up to date on their immunizations or risk being removed from in-person attendance beginning in the 2020-21 school year.

DCPS released the academic calendar for SY20-21! Pre-Service will start on August 24, and the first day for students is August 31. For additional details, you can review the updated calendar attached below.
