School Cafeteria
Students who bring their own lunch to school are kindly requested to remember to bring their own eating utensils such as forks, knives, spoons, plates, bowls, and any other necessary items from home.
Please ensure that these items are packed along with your child's lunch. Our school does not provide disposable utensils as these items can no longer be purchased as they fall under the Federal Government's Single-use Plastics Prohibition Regulations.
Ronald McDonald House Pull Tab Program
Ms. Carla Warren's Grade 1 class is collecting pull tabs for the Ronald McDonald House Charities ® Newfoundland and Labrador. Families can drop off their pull tab collections to the school. Pull tabs are an easy way to help the environment and help families at Ronald McDonald House Charities ® Newfoundland and Labrador. These small pull tabs are a clean source of aluminum that are easy to store. The dollars raised from recycling pull tabs go directly to providing the programs and services for families at Ronald McDonald House Charities ® Newfoundland and Labrador. Collecting pull tabs is a simple way for even the smallest child to make a big difference! Taking care of the earth by recycling is just the tip of the iceberg. By donating your pull tabs to RMHC, you’re helping to provide a “home away from home” for sick children and their families during what could be the most difficult time of their lives.
VETERANS’ WEEK NOVEMBER 5th-11th
2023 marks the 75th anniversary of United Nations peacekeeping. Canada has a long history of helping defend and maintain peace around the world. More than 125,000 Canadian Armed Forces members have served in international peacekeeping efforts in dozens of countries. We recognize and remember their courage, service and sacrifice.
Teachers will be incorporating Veterans' Week Learning Resources in their classes throughout the week. On Friday, November 10th students and staff are asked to wear red to school to honor our veterans. Our assembly will take place in the school gymnasium at 9:00 a.m. Families attending the assembly are asked to use the gymnasium entrance.
Dressing Appropriately for Outdoor Days
Students need as much opportunity as possible to go outside for lunch hour play. This is a vital part of the school day. It is a time for students to burn off some of that “energy” they have stored all morning, get some exercise, and simply socialize with their peers. When the weather is appropriate for outdoor days, students must have appropriate winter clothing. This means heavier jackets, boots, hats and gloves. We will continue to go outside daily during lunch time when the weather conditions permit us to do so. Families should ensure that their children are dressed for the elements prior to sending them to school each morning so they can take advantage of outdoor play opportunities.
