Worship Service February 18
“When Justice Starts with Just Us” with Rev. Monica Jacobson-Tennessen
It’s sometimes said that the solution to despair about the world is to find a small, often local way to make a difference for the better. In the same vein, as our justice-making efforts call us to challenge systems of oppression, we can find spiritual sustenance in our roots. Rev. Monica will share about the practice of “ancestral recovery” – reconstructing, as best we can, what life was like for our ancestors so we can find our own stories inside the larger history. Our legacies can help us find past wrongs to address, and give us connections to others who have worked for justice in the past.
The worship service starts at 10:00 am.

Grounds Work Party! - Saturday, February 17 1-3 pm
Each third Saturday of the month a bunch of us gather for grounds cleanup. There is always something for everyone to do - from weeding to chain sawing. Bring for favorite garden tool (hand pruners, weeding tools, gloves) or your favorite power tool (leaf blower, hedge trimmer) and we will find a job for you. Contact Lynn MacDonald.
Action Hour
Each Thursday at 6:30 pm through February. Do you find yourself overwhelmed by all the petitions to sign and the bills to comment on during the legislative session? Do you mean to get to it but find your email inbox just too choked up and/or you forget? Well, set a time and do it with us! All are invited to join us at OUUC for this weekly opportunity to engage with faithful advocacy actions in the company of others. Bring your own device if you can: laptop, phone, tablet. We’ll have a menu of actions to take, all experience levels are welcome.
News from our Partner Church
Dear Friends at our Partner Church,
I am very happy with your letter, I hope everyone is in good health. Everyone is doing well here. Just imagine, tomorrow is the start of an event that happens every year, when I visit each family one by one at the beginning of the year. They wait a lot and everyone is happy about the conversations.
Thank you for your support, the students are very happy with the scholarships, it is a great help for the families! Special thanks to the congregation for the support for the renovation of the church. The experts promised that the work will start in April as soon as the weather warms up. In September we could even celebrate Thanksgiving together when it is finished. We welcome and hug all our dear friends.
God bless you!
Levente
Darlene’s Retirement Party on February 25
We cannot let Darlene depart us without saying thank you for thirty-three years of devoted service to OUUC and to all of us. Not one for the limelight, Darlene prefers that we minimize the hoopla surrounding this event. So, there will be no band and no fireworks. But there will be a brief tribute, and a light lunch after service on February 25. We hope that you can attend. Questions? Want to volunteer to help? Contact Melanie Ransom.

Quick Notes
OUUC’s address changed as of January 1, 2024. OUUC’s new address is 2306 East End St NW. The City of Olympia directed us to make this change. This is due to the regulations regarding emergency access. If you use an automated bill-paying service for your pledge payments (your financial institution sends OUUC a check on your behalf), you will need to update the address.
Remember to check out the Equity Library in the Religious Education hall and across from Reverend Mary’s office. It's open anytime OUUC is open.
Safety Reminder: Please lock and remove valuables from your vehicles.
Ways to Give - Did you know you can donate to OUUC by text message? Just text "OUUC" and "amount" to 73256. You can also donate online by visiting our secure online giving page.
