As the new school year is approaching, we continue to monitor the construction on Hillendale as that will impact student arrival and dismissal. But that doesn't change our excitement to welcome back students to Mill Valley!

Please be sure to read all the important information below which includes several items that need to be done before the first day of school.

Thinking Students...Changing the World!

Join us for a fun “getting to know you” playdate for all incoming Kindergarten students and their parents/guardians! The kids will be able to play on the playground, meet some new friends, and enjoy a popsicle, while parents/guardians will be able to get the opportunity to meet one another. The Mill Valley PTO will be there to help get the playdate started and of course answer any questions! The U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) Food and Nutrition Service (FNS) is allowing the continuation of free meals to all students through the National School Lunch Program through June 30, 2022. The nationwide waivers allow schools and school districts to serve meals in a similar manner to how students were served meals during the 2020-21 school year if they are participating in the National School Lunch Program.

What does this mean for Muskego-Norway School District families during the 2021-22 school year?

• Elementary and Middle School Students - Any student who chooses a full reimbursable meal at lunch will receive that meal at no cost.

• High School Students - In 2020-21, an exception was made by the USDA Food and Nutrition Service to allow all students to receive free lunch regardless of whether or not the school participated in the National School Lunch program. In 2021-22, there will no longer be an exception. The high school does not participate in the school lunch program, so students in grades 9-12 will no longer have access to the free meals. The regular free and reduced application process will resume during registration.

The Dairyland Group provides transportation services for Muskego-Norway Schools. If you are looking to enroll your child(ren) in bus services or if you are looking to modify your current service, please complete the Bus Form as soon as possible. Once received, a representative from Dairyland will be in contact with you. Questions or concerns related to a student bus route can be directed to Dairyland by calling 262-203-9938 or emailing at muskegoquestions@ridesta.com. If you have general district transportation questions, please contact Jamie Gleeson, Executive Specialist at 262-971-1800 x2111.

When school is closed on a Monday or Friday, students miss their regularly scheduled specials (art, music, phy ed). Equalization days allow us to make up those missed days.

The District is excited to share a pilot opportunity as students transition into the 2021-2022 school year. On August 23rd, we will be hosting a pilot of our first “MNS Elementary Student Summit.”

The purpose of the event is to support the transition into a new school year by learning information about a student and for a student to begin building a relationship with their teacher while meeting together.

We are already planning for next year’s Parent Advisory Team. If you are interested in being a part of the Parent Advisory Team, working with others to help the district realize our vision to be the District of Choice, please consider signing up for our 2021-22 district-wide Parent Advisory Team by completing this survey. Meetings will be held at the Educational Services Center from 5:00-6:30PM on the following Mondays: October 4, 2021 (Curriculum focus), December 6, 2021 (Student Services Focus), February 28, 2022 (Safety and Facility Focus), April 18, 2022 (Communications, Culture, Co-Curricular Focus).
