Last Day of School
The Agency of Education has granted a waiver for three of our snow days this year. This means that our last student day will be a noon dismissal day on June 14th.
Change for a Cause
A member of the WS Family is in need of our support. Weathersfield Student Council would like to start collecting coins to help support the family. We will collect coins until May 26th. Just send in any spare change you have and we are going to try to fill a 5 gallon bucket!
On March 3rd, Adelyn Lovell, was hospitalized with what we now know is severe aplastic anemia. We don't know why she developed this illness and the treatment options are long and difficult. She has been seen by doctors at both Dartmouth-Hitchcock and Boston Children's. Aplastic anemia is a very rare bone marrow failure syndrome and Adelyn has been requiring multiple blood transfusions just to support her. She will next need to undergo intensive treatment over the next 6-12 months to completely get better.
Adelyn also has two older brothers at home, Jacobi Melanson and Henry Lovell, who are very worried about her and want her to get better soon so she can go do all the fun stuff that kids want to do.
Supportive funds will be used to pay for transportation for treatment, supplements and other supportive therapies, meals, and to help with wage losses during this time.
We are very grateful and overwhelmed for your love and support. Many have already generously contributed via our GoFundMe.
Other ways to help support:
-If you or your child knows either Jacobi or Henry, please consider inviting them to meet at the playground, go biking, swimming etc. now and over the summer. Of particular interest for Jacobi is soccer practice/play. If there are any coaches or parents that are willing to organize/attend a regular meet up at the Perkinsville field that would be very much appreciated. Henry has a strong interest in antiques and collecting if anyone wants to show him their treasures or has any special tips for finding old bottles around here locally.
-Donate blood or platelets. While we don't have a way to get your donation directly to Adelyn, adding to the national supply is absolutely helpful.
-Register to donate Bone Marrow, oftentimes this can be done noninvasively and with minimal discomfort. Registering to be a stem cell donor can save a life of a child or adult in need, maybe even Adelyn's who currently does not have a match on the registry.

VTCAP Testing is Done
Our students did a great job with VTCAP testing this year. It was a new format for all of us. Our students took their time and took the test seriously. We are proud of the effort that all students put into it. Great Job Weathersfield!
WISE in Grades 6-8 for Health Curriculum
Parents and Guardians of WS students in 6-8,
WISE will be joining Weathersfield’s Health curriculum for students in 6-8 on June 1st and June 2nd. WISE has supported our Upper Valley community for over 50 years and has directly supported our local youth through their Prevention and Education Program. These lessons are dedicated to educating kids about personal safety, caring for their bodies and skills for maintaining positive relationships with others. The program provides age appropriate lessons for elementary students and middle school. If you would like more information about this program, please take a moment to read the parent letter linked here.
Dental Program Visiting Weathersfield School
The program is for any student who has not had a dental check-up in the past 6 months, and does not have a check-up scheduled before September 1. Details on the services the dental hygienist provides are in the handout.
Please reach out to school nurse Grace Knight at grace.knight@wsesu.net with any questions.
Book Fair
May 22-25 and May 30 & 31
The Scholastic Book Fair will also be open for families during the art showcase event on
Wednesday, May 31st from 5-6 pm.
Please help support the library - Scholastic points are given based on the total dollar value of the books sold during the fair which will help provide new books for the students to borrow.
The ewallet option of payment has been a big hit and is available for this fair. Signing up will enable your child to be able to shop without bringing money to school. (Balances on ewallet can not be refunded. However, they do carry over to the next fair or students may use the money to purchase books online.) If you are interested please go to Scholastic.com/fair and sign up.
