5th Grade Science with Mr. McIntosh
Looking Back -
This week we jumped into the use of circuits and resistance which gives us a better understanding of how we harness electric power. We explored series and parallel circuits, resistance in the devices we use, and how direct current differs from alternating current. Next up – electromagnetism, and wrap up of our unit on electricity and magnetism.
Looking Ahead –
Electricity becomes much more interesting when we consider how we have learned to put it to use. Understanding the connection of electrical charge and magnetism allows us to see the possibilities of what that connection can bring to our lives. This a great way to wrap up our unit.
Extra Credit is now available in USA Test Prep. Check it out!
There are short science articles linked in USA Test Prep with some short essay questions to explore your thinking about the topics. Complete these optional assignments for a boost to your grade.
Continue to devote one hour (or two 30 minute sessions) to Stride Science lessons each week.
History for the week of Valentine's: How is your knowledge of Valentine’s trivia? Who was the first person to make chocolate for Valentine’s Day? What countries celebrate Valentine’s Day the most?
