Good Afternoon R-PEL Families,

I hope everyone was able to enjoy a wonderful weekend! Monday is the first day of the second semester of the school year. This marks the halfway point to our school year. It has been amazing so far! We are looking forward to the second half!

Teachers will be reporting on their student's progress. Report cards are available will be available to view through the Parent Portal beginning this week. CLICK HERE TO ACCESS PARENT PORTAL. If you need assistance logging into your Parent Portal, please contact the school office.

For additional information regarding your student's progress please feel free to contact your child's teacher. Two way communication with your teacher is the most valuable resource regarding the progress of your child in school.

The Middle School PTO puts on the Princess Ball for all the elementary girls, and we would like your help with this event.

If you are willing to help organize and plan the big event please fill this form out. The exact date is still in the works, but most likely the second weekend of March. We will need to meet soon to firm up the date, theme, details, etc.

A great way to engage in reading with your child at home is to use our monthly reading calendar. This calendar is filled with daily activities for all age levels. Look for a new calendar here every month. The January calendar is ready for you, so let’s get reading!

As you are listening to your child read aloud at home, use these strategies to help them along the way. These strategies are used in all of our classrooms and will be familiar to your child as they work through our reading curriculum during the school year. This month focuses on the strategy of “breaking the word apart” to help with those tricky words!

Girls on the Run sign ups are now open! This is for all 3rd and 4th grade girls! We are looking for coaches (coaches do not need to be runners) if anyone is interested in helping either 1 day a week or 2 please contact Kara VanDyke at kmgalarneau@gmail.com.

January's Theme - Respect

This spring, the TTQ program is coming back to schools. TTQ is a fun, high energy after school program designed exclusively for students in 3rd-5th grade; it incorporates strength and stretching exercises with training for a 5K. Participants in the program will develop positive peer relationships and feel part of a team while working toward individual goals. Additional practice activities focus on developing a healthy lifestyle and resisting peer pressure. The Spring season begins the week of March 13th, with our final 5K on May 20th.

Meetings are every Monday from 6:30-8:00 in the RPI Library.

Thanks to a partnership with group of local volunteers, our school will be participating in the Hand2Hand program. The program helps to provide a student with food for the weekends and is intended for families who may be experiencing a financial burden. This program will be available to all of our kids and parents will give permission for their child to participate. We are grateful to the generosity of the volunteers in our community.

Food is discretely to children in the program each Friday.

Reeths-Puffer's District Wellness team would like to invite Rocket City to join us for monthly events, meetings and speakers. Our goal is to support the physical, nutritional and mental health of our community as well as increase environmental awareness and keeping Rocket City beautiful.

Wellness Information

Our next Wellness Meeting will be Monday, February 6th at 4:30. We will be meeting at Central Elementary School, room 120.
