La Mesa Update
April 10

Hello La Mesa Families,
We hope you enjoyed the spring break. We only have 38 days left and we plan to make every one of them count. Please be sure to stay on top of our communications with you as the spring gets very busy.
Our next Parent Advisory Council Meeting will be this Thursday at 6pm in the Library LIVE and in person.
Sincerely,
Michele Krantz, principal

Parent Advisory Council (PAC) Meeting This Thursday 6pm in the Library
CAASPP State Testing
Our annual state testing, CAASPP, will be May 2-6. These are important tests that allow us to determine where our students are at. We look very closely at the data from these tests to help us plan school -wide instruction, intervention, and other supports needed to ensure all students are learning at high levels.
On an individual level, these tests help round out the picture for each student's academic progress. These results, along with grades, our reading and Math iReady diagnostic, as well as teacher input, allow us to know how individual students are progressing academically.
Please support your child and La Mesa by making sure students get a good night's rest, eat a healthy breakfast, and arrive to school on time and ready to go.
LCAP Input for Parents
Every year, the Hart District looks at student data to determine areas of concern for increasing and improving district-wide services for students through the Local Control and Accountability Plan LCAP process. If you would like to submit input for possible actions and strategies to be considered in next year’s Hart District LCAP, please fill out this Form:

End of the Year 8th Grade Events
Many of our 8th grade parents have asked about 8th Grade Promotion. The Hart District Junior Highs, including La Mesa, have not held 8th Grade Promotions for the past 10+ years. We do have our annual 8th Grade Awards ceremony where we recognize students for academic, character, and leadership. Unfortunately, not all students earn awards. Special invitations are sent home. We are working now on all of our 8th grade activities that also include a dance. More information to come!
Before spring break, your child met with a counselor from their high school to plan out their courses for their 9th grade year.
