Happy October-already!! We're so pleased and excited to be able to re-establish our Wednesday morning Great Start program for students. We had a marvelous turnout for our first week. Next Wednesday begins the first session for Mad Science. We still have a few partial scholarships available, if your child is interested.

This week we practiced another fire drill, this time the drill was unannounced. Students did an excellent job exiting the building quietly in under one minute. It was our fifth of ten required fire drills each year. On October 17th, we will practice the first of our four lockdown drills. Chief Skroski will be on hand to help us out and critique our performance.

Please remember that there is NO SCHOOL for students tomorrow!

Teachers will continue their professional learning with Maine Math and Science Alliance. The PK-2nd grade teachers will be meeting at PES while the 3rd-5th grade teachers meet at Fisher Mitchell School. Other specialists will be meeting at Woolwich Central School. This is a tremendous opportunity for our teachers to meet with their grade-level colleagues.

SAVE THE DATE! Saturday, October 29th, 5:30-7PM, the Phippsburg Rec hosts Trick or Trunk and Food Collection for the Bath Area Food Bank at the Town Hall parking lot. Participating vehicles must be in place by 5PM. To sign up your vehicle, contact Michelle Sloan by October 26th at 841-3161 or Cathy Thomas at 522-3105. The food pantry drop-off location will be the Phippsburg Recreation Committee table. (No Rain Date)

FREE K-5 activities take place on Wednesdays from 8:15-9:15AM. Currently activities are: Board Games or Chess, Physical Activity (on the playground in nice weather, in the gym otherwise), Outdoor Loop Walk. Thank you to our wonderful volunteers who make these activities possible!
