Our first day with 6th-graders has been energetic, exceptional, heart-filling, and so much more. Thank you!

Thank you to the parents/guardians who attended the optional A and Q meeting this morning. It was so wonderful to meet with you, share about middle school, and answer your questions. I want to apologize for the confusion about the date and time for the meeting. I appreciate your understanding. It is a reminder of our word of the year perseverance. As WMS Demons...

We fall. We learn. We do it again. Perseverance.

As adults, we make mistakes too. It is a great way to teach our students how to handle mistakes, learn from them, and try again!

Event Information

1st Annual WMS Back to School Bash

Why: Why NOT? Let’s get together as a WMS Community and celebrate the start of a new school year with fun, food, and the WMS family.

Who: WMS families. Students must have an adult present.

Where: WMS Gym, use the main gym doors to enter.

When: Thursday, August 17th from 5:00pm-7:00pm

What:

Games and activities for families to participate. Want to...throw a whipped cream pie is someone's face (maybe Mrs. Kennedy, Mr. Swanson, Ms. Wilcox…) Test your knowledge about WMS? Take home some baked goodies? Shine as a Karaoke star, and SO MUCH MORE.
See your friends and make new connections.
Food is available for purchase to keep your hunger away.
Variety of prizes to win.

We are lucky to have Crazy Asian Kitchen providing dinner options for families if they choose. Thanks to Crazy Woman Espresso for being open from 4:30-7:00

STUDENT ARRIVAL AND DISMISSAL

Student Arrival

If arriving by bus, students are dropped off on the far south end of our building on Meade and make their way to the playground.
If walking, students will make their way to the playground
If being dropped off by car, students are dropped off on N. River Ave., behind WMS. Cars are to pull off to the side of the road. There is an opening in the fence for students to enter the playground
If your student arrives after 8:00, please drop them off in front of the building on Meade Ave. note curb paintings and bus area (no parking) signs.

Student Dismissal

If riding the bus home, students will go to the playground and their bus.
If walking, students will leave and walk home.
If getting picked up by a car, drivers are to pull over to the side of the road, obeying curb paintings, bus area signs, and driving laws while waiting for students to arrive.

If someone else is dropping off or picking up your student, please ensure they know these procedures. Often, older siblings, grandparents, etc., help out families with pick up and drop off. Thank you for being so helpful in keeping our students and drivers in the area safe!

We'd Like to Introduce to you...

Mr. DeLay! Our new 7th-grade Math/Career and Life Teacher!

I love all kinds of food so it's very hard to pick a favorite, but a newer favorite is Sushi, a backup is a good steak.
My favorite color of all is purple, I like most colors as well but blue, green, turquoise are also some of my favorites.
If I am honest, I need to read more, and I have been through conscious effort. I think my favorite book I have recently read was All He Knew by Helen Frost. I also love to read to students and a picture book that I love to read is called I Am Every Good Thing by Derrick Barnes
My favorite place is also a tough one, I always love visiting places but I am always happy to return to Montana, so Montana is definitely my favorite. I think Glacier National Park is my favorite place within Montana.
My favorite hobby is building computers and I have built over 20 for friends and family. I am also (very slowly) trying to learn how to play guitar.
My favorite thing about WMS is the welcoming community it has and how caring everyone is. It feels like a home as far as the team goes and I believe a home is more about the people you are around than the place or building.
My favorite thing about Middle Schoolers is their ability to be very witty and yet so thoughtful. I love that they are starting to figure out who they are and the things that they love. They can be quite humorous and also build strong connections with the people around them.

Thank you, 8th-grade Mentors!

Thank you to our 8th-grade mentors who guided our 6th-graders today. I was discussing with some of our mentors today about how important their role is. We were reflecting on their 6th-grade year and it brought smiles to their faces thinking about the 8th-graders who led the way for them.
