6-8th Grade Minecraft Challenge Winner Calista K., 6th Grade
Frankenstein-Craft
This is a collage of one of the coolest books ever written, Frankenstein by Mary Shelley. She wrote the book when she was only 18 for a writing contest. It became one of the most famous horror stories ever and is the first science fiction novel.
My dad showed me the Universal movie from 1931 last Halloween and that version is how most people picture Frankenstein's Monster or The Creature (Frankenstein is actually the last name of the doctor who made him!). It is VERY different than the book! It is not really scary now, but is a little sad that people fear The Monster.
The windmill is from the last scene of the movie where The Monster runs away from angry villagers and they burn it down. It was very fun to build everything! My dad helped in planting all of the wheat seeds (he said there was hundreds bc we had to make the whole field) and doing filters on my screeshots. While I was building (and then setting it on fire!) he taught me about how movies are made, like how you can make "facades" of buildings that are actually just flat bc you don't go in the building for the photo and can trick the camera.
9-12th Grade Minecraft Challenge Winner Justin, D., 10th Grade
Justin's Apartment Building
I created a 2-storey apartment building. The building is surrounded with a garden and a lot of trees. It gives this place a very cool ambiance and fresh air, too. Good for the health and relaxes your mind as well. My creation is entitled "Justin's Apartment Building"

Beagle & Bird on Ice
My picture is a nighttime scene depicting a beagle and a bird skating on a frozen lake. For a lake to freeze and be safe for ice skating the temperature needs to be below freezing which is 32° F and it has to be at this temperature or below for a few days, so the ice could be thick enough to skate on.
9-12 Grade Minecraft Challenge Winner Shijoon A., 9th Grade
The Four Seasons
For spring, I made a pond surrounded by flowers and trees to represent the planting season. For summer, I made a swimming pool with a picnic because during the hot days people enjoy taking a swim and going outside. I made barn for fall because the leaves start to change and it's harvest season. I made a cabin for winter because people want to be inside to stay warm and cozy because of the snow outside. Weather prediction uses temperature and precipitation patterns to forecast events. Global climates vary due to geographical location, altitude, and large-scale atmospheric and oceanic systems.

Ross Learning Space
"She wanted to put a whole learning center with pictures of the outside and inside. She loves books so she put a ton of bookshelves and desks for all of her friends/classmates. She made everything herself and told me (her mom) exactly what pictures to use and what she wanted done through the whole process. She made the structure out of gold and glass, then the inside she wanted to be fancy so that “ All of my friends would enjoy it as much as me!” P.S. I had to write this because she’s 5 and is still working on her words/spelling and i had to use my birthday because it says 13 and up when i put hers but the sign up thing says kindergarten and up."

Saqqara, the Egyptian Burial Site
"Saqqara, is almost an hour’s drive from Cairo International Airport. It is one of Egypt’s greatest ancient sites in the middle of a rather desert-like landscape that was once filled with stunning ancient Egyptian art and architecture. Saqqara was the burial ground of the ancient Egyptian city of Memphis and is home to numerous pyramids and tombs. Saqqara is located in Egypt, around 17 miles south of downtown Cairo. The best way to get there is via a privately hired car or taxi, and it is recommended that you hire either for the full day so you may get around each of the site’s attractions easily."

Pergamum
"Pergamum was an an early center of Christianity on Turkey. I think this is cool because ancient ruins show what old earth might have looked like. On the roof I tried to mimic things that may have been gold, or torches for light. I used tiles on the floor for a nice floor texture. I pulled off some of the tiles and leaned some against other tiles to make it look like ruins. I made broken pillars and undergrowth. I also made fallen pillars."

Emily W. Kindergarten, CAVA
Unusual flowers seen in Huntington Museum garden
Ayla K. 4th Grade, WIVA
This photo isn't the fanciest, but I like these flowers, especially how they look in the dark! I like how the grass goes with it! I took this photo when I was at Door County
Adelia J. 7th Grade, VAVA
I've been traveling out West to a bunch of National Parks. This picture is from Saguaro National Park. I thought it was really cool. I love that I can travel to these amazing places while doing school on K12. Its great!
Alanna S. 9th Grade, CASC
This picture is of a bee collecting pollen on a sunflower, up close. Yes I was that close to the bee. I love taking photographs and one day want to travel the world taking nature photos.
March Photo Contest Winners - Theme: Spring Breaking
Ella B. 1st Grade CASC
My photo is of my very favorite plant in our flower bed island. It is one of the first to bloom when Spring arrives! The tiny white flowers all over are so beautiful. The brightness of the mounds of white really show up and stand out!
My mom told me about the plants and how they were always called “candy tuffâ€, when she was growing up. I love learning about the plants and flowers with my mom!
Riley B. 5th Grade CASC
Spring Breaking at home, in the Upstate of South Carolina, means crisp mornings that turn into mild, warm afternoons. One of the very first signs of Spring, that my little sister and I wait and watch for, are these beautiful tulips in my photo. They are especially important to us, because we planted them ourselves 3 years ago, from the bulbs! Happy Spring Breaking!
Erin B. 6th Grade CVA
This is a trail by a river that I thought was perfect for the spring breaking theme, because every where I looked were little leaves unfurling, and sprouts just reaching the earth's surface for the first time. Moss hung from every tree from last spring, making the trail seem like a fantasy land. You felt like at any moment, a fairy or troll could walk out of the forest, and you wouldn't be surprised!
Daniel C. 12th Grade LAVCA
This photo is of a slug I found in my garden, which I shot while it was on a plant. Slugs show up very often around this time of the year in Louisiana, and I thought the vibrant colors of the flower in the background would be perfect for the theme of spring!

Fabiola R. 2nd Grade, ALVA
This is Fiona, my beautiful dog! It is my best friend and my best company. It takes care of me and loves to play with my family. Fiona is a rescue dog, It has found love in our family.
Dana C. 5th Grade, TOPS
This are my two pet cockatiels Max and Ruby. The instant Max saw Ruby they fell in love! From then on they never got apart. They are always doing something together. This picture explains their love for each other.
Josephine H. 8th Grade, ALVA
This is my dog, Bellatrix. We adopted her on December 5th, 2020, one month after my dog Teddy passed away. Teddy was my best friend and I did not want to get another dog. I was terrified that the same thing would happen: they would get sick and pass away. My family and I had been to several meet and greets, but I was still reluctant. One day, we met a little black lab named Meadow (now Bellatrix), and I fell in love. I love her little wet nose and floppy noodle ears. I'm so thankful to have her in my life, which pushed me to love again. The shelter Bellatrix came from is a non-profit, and they are strictly funded by financial donations and fundraisers. They receive no local, state, or federal funding. If I win this contest, I will use all the money to buy supplies for the shelter.
Hailey L. 9th Grade, WAVA
This is Belmo, he is a corgi. He was born in Kansas and flew here when he was a baby, he was named after a Pro Bowler. One day we thought how funny it would be to take a photo of him with a bowling ball on the lanes, just like Belmo the bowler. It turned out adorable and I love him so much.
Dec/Jan Photo Contest Winners Announced
Kayleen M. 2nd Grade TNVA
This picture was taken in December. Kayleen and I were walking around taking pictures of the new fallen snow. When she saw the tree covered in snow with the swing she was so amazed by it she wanted a picture.
Jennsen R. 4th Grade CASC
I was visiting Iowa and we went for a walk. I saw these berries on a tree and the snowflakes were sticking to it. I thought it was it pretty. I call it Snow Berries.
Chesleigh G. 7th Grade ARVA
My photo was inspired by our Ford F-350 dually farm truck. I am a beginner, but I am driven to show the world what farm life is like through photography. Even though this challenge is about winter, I still would like to incorporate my passion into it. I hope you enjoy my photo!
Madison W. 11th Grade CPA
I chose a photo of crab apple blossoms covered in snow! I took this photo a little while ago, but I think it fits the theme well. I have a few more pictures of my neighbor's crab apple tree covered in snow but I chose this one because it had a focus and unlike my second choice; didn't have snow blocking the main focus. My winters are usually more focused on the snow in Colorado so a picture about both the snow and my favorite part of summer (flowers and thriving plants) seemed appropriate. I really like this picture hope you do too!

Winter Break Minecraft Challenge Winners
Audrey P. 5th Grade HVAM
This challenge was so fun! I made a house and tree with flowers and bees for the BEE CREATIVE challenge! I worked so hard on it.
Shaivi K. 4th Grade LSOA
I Built something about summer
Tymberlyn T. 8th Grade IDVA
My challenge was to make a bee pollinator garden. I realized that bees drop pollen while going back to their hives. First, I tried putting flowers by the hives as shown in area 1. This was moderately efficient. Then, I put the flowers in the middle of the area, and it was much more efficient.
Aidan T. 6th Grade CPA
I did the Minecraft seasons challenge. I represented winter with a log cabin during the middle of the season with flurries of snow next to a forest. It was really fun terraforming everything over the season. ~ Aidan.T
Elisa S. 7th Grade Other
It's about when i got lost in school but a teacher helped me.
Audrey J. 11th Grade OHVA
For my challenge, I took the term "garden" to the next level! This is what I'd consider a true bee paradise: a little pond, beautiful trees, bushes, stones, and most important of all.. flowers to pollinate! these busy bees have so much to do!
Karis E. 12th Grade SCVCS
I did the Minecraft seasons challenge. I defined each season with a building of a tree going through the cycle of spring, summer, fall, and winter.
November Minecraft Challenge Winners
Ryder B. Kindergarten SCVCS
I built a treehouse for the treehouse challenge.
Aiden S. 2nd Grade AZVA
This is "Aiden's Campsite" I made 4 white tents to camouflage into the snowy area. There are also campers/villagers in each tent, and they have supplies and beds inside of their tents. The lanterns are to keep everyone safe at night. They cook their food on the camp fire and stay toasty warm with it too!
Seth G. 2nd Grade ALVA
My indigenous story build is a village showing how the Native American Indians lived in the early days of Alabama. The village shows the landscape with huts, water sources, animals, villagers, crops (farm), and weapons (chest).
Liam C. 3rd Grade TOPS
I built a treehouse ruin. I like and am interested in all different types of ruins.
Lyann R. 4th Grade TOPS
This is my campside!
Landon A. 3rd Grade TOPS
I chose the Comanche legend "How the Buffalo were released on Earth". I created the buffalo breaking free from Humpbacks house, coyote disguised as dog and Humpback.
Micah L. 6th Grade IAVA
I built a custom tree and branches, on one of the branches is a little birdhouse which acts as the entrance to my treehouse. I decided to make my treehouse a literal treehouse and built the house inside of the tree. I'm submitting a video and a screenshot because I'm not sure which I am meant to submit.
Olivia H. 8th Grade TVAH
I made a campsite
Violet O. 8th Grade CAVA
I did the Indigenous Stories theme. I have some simple yet well-built huts a nice little campfire. There are three horses near the huts so people can ride them. the people have a large crop field that is healthy. they have animals for food, there are some sheep for wool, cows for milk and meat, chickens for eggs and meat, and pigs for meat. among all the other things, there is also a small pond, useful for fetching water or to fish in. you can also washcloth with the freshwater it has. the tree that surrounds the village provide shelter and keep the strong winds from messing with the crops and blowing stuff over. the people who live in the village have long, happy lives, with cozy homes and plenty of food, what more could you ask for.
Audrey B. 11th Grade LAVCA
I thought about doing the tree house in a spruce forest but then i remembered i had a really nice Savannah mountain that could work better.
Don H. 12th Grade HVAM
I am going to build a campsite with some aesthetics and details such as a campfire, lanterns and some barrels for some storage.

Michaela B. 1st Grade LSOA
“Rainbow space adventure with me and my dog bullet in!”
Noah H. 2nd Grade OHVA
“This is a Gila Monster that I made out of modeling clay for an art project. It took almost a week for it to dry so that I could paint it. I love Gila Monsters and always go see the one at our zoo. I painted him these colors because they are my favorite colors. I also made him a tree to sit on.”

Jessica H. 5th Grade TVAH
“This is a drawing of a mother tiger and her cubs. This is the first time I have drawn tigers, but I have a good amount of experience with drawing animals in general. I used copic markers to color the tigers. For the ink, I used Pigma Micron pens.”
Rio D. 6th Grade NVVA
“This drawing was special to me because It was the first time I covered the whole page, and for the Goku it was the first time I used shadows and was made with colored pencils.”
Zamirah W. 7th Grade WAVA
“Adventure at the beach.”
Arianna B. 8th Grade TOPS
“Don't wait for adventure....adventures are waiting for you.”
Keira M. 9th Grade NMDCA
"My painting is about a young girl on an education adventure away from her home. She often talks with her grandma for encouragement. When she completes college in a big city, she returns home with her daughter to share her achievements with her grandma."
Olivia G. 10th Grade NCVA
“The theme of adventure made me think of what an individual's interpretation of adventure is. For me, I find the greatest amount of wonder through art, so I decided to make that the inspiration for the picture.”
Maria C. 11th Grade MVCA
“The theme is Artistic Adventure. My interpretation was a daydream, as daydreams are the peak of my adventures in my small town. In my artwork in the background, I created two worlds, reality and the daydream. In the center foreground is me, and these are my daydreams currently being visualized. For a sense of unity, the foreground continues from each edge of the page. The style has notes of impressionism.”
Jayden C. 12th Grade IAVA
