Dear Muskego Lakes Families,
We finished this week as a school by celebrating community! We celebrated not only the community that we have here within our school but also the Muskego community. Students and staff spent their day working on various service projects that will benefit those right here in our community. Here are the projects that students spent time working on today:
- Snack Bags - students decorated and made up snack bags to be distributed to those staying in the Super 8 motel due to shelters being closed and for the food pantry.
- How To Tech- students shared their expertise with different topics by creating how-to videos for others to learn and explore.
- CommUNITY Rocks- students decorated and sealed rocks to be placed around the Muskego community
- Meals on Wheels- students designed, decorated, and laminated placemats so that they could be handed out to individuals receiving meals from Meals on Wheels.
- Cheerful Art- students created artwork to be shared and displayed at Tudor Oaks and local hospitals.
- Beaded Friendship Bracelets- our Muskies worked to create bracelets to be given to Bay Lane. The staff at Bay Lane will then give out to students caught being Respectful, Responsible Community members!
- Tic-Tac-Toe Boards - students created brain break tic-tac-toe boards for classrooms at Bay Lane Elementary, Muskego Lakes, and Tudor Oaks.
- Project Linus - students worked to create fleece tie-blankets for children recovering from sickness and surgery at local Children’s hospitals.
- Animal Shelter Tie Blankets - students worked to create tie blankets that local animal shelters can use to provide a soft bed for the animals.
- Letters for Community Heroes- students took time to write thank-you letters and notes of encouragement to local community heroes (police, firefighters, health care, military, etc).
- Public Service Announcement Flyers - students created posters about a topic they wanted to raise awareness for others. Topics range from kindness, benefits of sleep, plastic straws, endangered species, deforestation, wasting water, texting while driving, seatbelts, making good choices on social media, etc., to be hung up here at Muskego Lakes.
- Letters to Bay Lane 4th Graders- students wrote welcome letters to current Bay Lane fourth graders to share words of encouragement about coming to middle school.
- Sprout Happy Thoughts- students decorated small flower pots and planted honey bee-friendly flower seeds and could take to acknowledge a trusted adult in their life or be left for us to distribute to those in the community.
- Mindful Posters- students created posters to share mindfulness tips and tricks with other Muskego Lakes students and Tudor Oaks residents.
- Bay Lane and Muskego Lakes Expectations- students created PBIS expectation posters for Muskego Lakes and Bay Lane elementary.
- Feed The Hungry Challenge- students showed their knowledge by competing in the Muskego Lakes “Free Rice” challenge. Students answered questions to earn donations for the World Food Programme.
It was an honor to see our students engaged in fun service-learning activities, and even more so knowing the products of the day are impacting those right here in our community. Ask your child to share with you about what options they participated in today, and make sure to check out the photos from the day below.
With Love,
Rachel Rydzewski & Nancy Pasch

Consider Becoming A Guest Teacher
Muskego-Norway School District is always looking for individuals who are interested in becoming guest teachers in our system. This is a great opportunity to become more involved in your students’ schooling as well as have a flexible work schedule. If you are interested or know of someone who may be interested in this opportunity, please find contact information HERE.
Important Safety Reminders for Drop-Off/Pick-Up
When designing our drop-off lanes, we focused on two main areas: safety and capacity. To achieve both, we need all families to follow the procedures.
- Pull all the way forward in the drop-off/pick-up lane. Fill in all available space before stopping. Stopping too soon negatively impacts the lane in two ways: (1) it reduces the capacity of the lane, causing a backup and slowing down the flow of cars and (2) cars stopping too soon or multiple times surprises families behind them, which could lead to a fender bender.
- Proceed slowly once you enter the main drive of Muskego Lakes. Many individuals are outside of our building, in vehicles, and on foot; excessive speed puts everyone in danger.
- Stay in a single file line and only drop-off or pick-up by the designated area. We ask that you stay in the drop-off/pick-up lines and do not pull out to bypass parts of the line or others dropping-off/picking-up. If this happens, it negatively impacts the systems in two ways: (1) it causes a safety concern for pedestrians, and (2) cars pulling out to pass and then moving back into the line causes congestion and could surprise families leading to a fender bender.
Thank you for your attention to these procedures and for helping us keep safety a number one priority!

2022 - Muskego Youth Summer Basketball Camps
Muskego Youth Basketball camps are a special way to grow as a young basketball player and as an individual. There are numerous opportunities throughout the entire summer to get involved with the Muskego basketball program. Participation is open to everyone from newcomers to experienced players as camps will focus on every aspect of the game. Each day and each session will teach the game of basketball to future Muskego Warriors with the ultimate goal being to grow players’ love for the sport.
Although various skills will be emphasized at different camps, what will remain constant are the incorporation of the three main standards of the Muskego basketball program:
- Selflessness - Contribute positively in any way that you can all while making those around you better, and recognizing that it is not about you, it is about us.
- Listen and Learn - Always be striving to learn more to better yourself and the team.
- Hard work - Your success is determined by your hard work, and the greatest out work everyone.
*All camps are located at Muskego High School and are for both boys and girls!*
Camp Director: Coach Cerroni - kameron.cerroni@muskegonorway.org
To sign-up for summer basketball camps, visit www.muskegobasketballcamps.com
There will be different options for summer camps this year: Grade Level Camp, Offensive Skills Camp, Future Warriors Camp, Competition Camp, Last Chance Camp and Small Fry Camp. At each camp, players will be able to take the skills and knowledge that they learned and use it on their own outside of the camps.

Speak Up, Speak Out Wisconsin
Our staff at Muskego Lakes take threats seriously. We are grateful for our partnership with students and parents as they continue to be invested in their school culture as we all work together to keep our schools safe. We encourage all families to talk about how a child should respond to any threat or concern, regardless of the source or legitimacy. If a student or parent is not comfortable going directly to a district staff member, they can use Wisconsin's Speak Up, Speak Out that will notify a school administrator and/or police authorities immediately. Speak Up, Speak Out! Speak Up, Speak Out is managed by the Wisconsin Department of Justice (DOJ) Office of School Safety.
You may make a report by visiting the website, using your smartphone by downloading the SPEAK UP, SPEAK OUT app from the Apple Store and Google Play, or by calling 1-800-MY-SUSO-1 to speak to a resource center analyst.
