Mrs. Iseler's K.E.S. Principal Post
SEPTEMBER 2022
Principal Message
As we move forward this year with fewer restrictions related to the pandemic, we want to welcome volunteers and families back into the building. Visitors are required to check in the front office, sign our log-in document and wear a yellow sticker badge to show you have gone through our check-in process. Volunteers are required to complete a background check.
New this year is the introduction of Kohler Community Time on Tuesdays. This is a time for students connect, build community and practice skills using Cool Tools. Cool Tools are lessons designed to support our current PBIS expectations of following the Kohler way to be Respectful, Responsible and Safe. Our assemblies focus more on celebrations and roll-out of themes based on PBIS data. Kohler Community Time is time to practice those skills in guided class discussion that extend our school counselor's lessons and respond to PBIS data. This past Tuesday in 5k, we learned about the golden rule and what respect looks like when I visited. They had great ideas to share!
Staff have begun working to build community, but also have been assessing students skill by working completing district assessment, reviewing work samples and making observations. All of this contributes to assessment for Standards Based Grading at Kohler Elementary.
Again thanks for being a key component in the success of your child(ren) and Kohler schools. We are fortunate to have a community so vested in student, staff and community success. You may schedule appointments with me to discuss issues that continue to need resolution or if you want to connect with me in general. If you ever have questions, please reach out to teachers as a first point of contact as they are a wealth of information and talented group of educators. Your time is valuable-so I want to ensure adequate time is set aside for a productive conversation.
In Kohler Kindness,
Mrs. Iseler

Leaving a Legacy Project-Buddy Bench
Tyler DeAmico worked with Mrs. Multer, our school counselor and Kohler School Foundation to create a shelter for our "Buddy Bench". Our buddy bench is taught to be used as a tool to help seek a play partner. The idea is that if you see someone sitting on the bench, they are looking to play with someone. A student can also sit there to think how they could join some play going on. Tyler built a decorative shelter that shares our PBIS expectations, expectations for the buddy bench and some problem solving visuals to help all students and staff use common language to address issues. Tyler built this project as part of his Eagle Scout project and we thank him and the generosity of Kohler School Foundation to bring this to fruition. Thanks for leaving a legacy project for the playground, Tyler!
