Welcome to our CTS Snapshot - a weekly celebration update. We are delighted to share with parents and carers alike student triumphs at Corby Technical School. We are proud of every student and every success they have - please feel free to share with us any achievements they might have.

Year 10 Theatre Trip

Year 10 students visited Shakespeare's Globe Theatre this week as part of their History and English GCSE. The students enjoyed the day and were fantastic ambassadors for the school.

Healthy Relationship Workshop

We are working with our community School Nurses to deliver workshops to students giving them an awareness of healthy relationships.

Gang Crime Workshop

Our PCSO Steve Coles and colleagues from Northants Police presented a gang crime workshop to Year 10 students this week.

Miss Connellan has nominated Year 9 English students Paris, Ellie, Finlaye and Liam for demonstrating excellent knowledge of An Inspector Calls. Also nominated is Ruby 7TA for wonderful leadership in her group work this week.

Mr Cox has nominated his Year 9 Scientists for their dedication and focus in lessons over the last 2 weeks and also Indira and Abigail 9C and Dominika and Hana 9T for excellent grades in their recent Biology Paper 1 test.
Mr Lee has nominated 7CO for their excellent start to Pythagoras theorem in Maths.
Mr Horne has nominated Year 9 students Abigail and Bethany for an excellent presentation of the results of a statistics project in Maths.
Mr Godfrey has nominated Aleksander 9S for great enthusiasm and contribution in Physics this week.
Mr Harley has nominated Shaylan & Jayden in 8S DT for winning the paper tower engineering challenge to build the tallest tower, their free standing paper tower was 1.64 metres tall.
Mrs Hopkins has nominated all Year 10's for being great ambassadors during the Globe Theatre trip.

Student Elections

These week we held our Student Elections. Students canvassed staff and their peers in school. The winners will be announced in next week's edition.

CTS Question Time

Students also delivered their party manifesto's and took part in CTS Question Time.

Food VCert

Our Year 10 students have produced some amazing dishes this week including cannelloni, homemade burgers, spaghetti carbonara, chocolate brownies and much more.

Attendance Matters

Every single day a student is absent from school equates to a day lost of learning. At Corby Technical School we pride ourselves in maintaining excellent attendance. Our target is to achieve and maintain a whole school attendance of above 96.5%. We will be giving you weekly updates on our whole school attendance, the tutor group and house who achieved the highest attendance this week.

Best Tutor Group

Best tutor is 7CA with 98.99%. Well done to 7CA students and Mr Horne.

House Winner

House winners this week are T house with 95.63%. Well done to all students in Telford and Tacke.

Reminders:

Monday 3rd September and Tuesday 4th September 2018 are staff training days and school is closed to students.
We will reopen on Wednesday 5th September 2018.
New Year 7 students will join us on Wednesday 5th September.
