Irvington Weekly Newsletter
January 27, 2022
A HUGE thank you to all of the adults, both staff and parents, who supported yesterday's Black history assembly. What a great way to celebrate Blackness and showcase our students' talents. A special thank you to members of our Families of Students of Color group who spearheaded the event. (Wanna learn more about FOSOC? Come to our next dinner on February 15!)
With care,
Mr. G.
Read-A-Thon Is On!
The ReadAThon is happening now! Have you made an online account or got your paper forms filled in? Is your student logging their daily minutes read? We’ve got 102 students registered and 10,692 minutes logged so far! Let's keep up the good work, Irvington Readers!
We’re encouraging ALL students to participate and log their minutes to help meet SCHOOL-WIDE goals and earn SCHOOL-WIDE prizes, whether or not they are participating in the fundraiser part of the ReadAThon! If each student reads 20 minutes per weekday, we’ll make it to the Tier 2 goal!
In case your student is asking – if they make it to Tier 2, they get the Popcorn Party AND Extra Recess! And if they get to Tier 3, they earn those two prizes PLUS the DANCE PARTY!!
Find all the info and reminders of how to register and log your minutes on our website: https://www.irvingtonschool.com/read-a-thon/ Keep up the good work, Eagles!

Book Drive
As you’re combing through books to read for the ReadAThon, set aside ones you’re ready to pass along. A Book Drive is coming to Irvington School the week of February 6th! That week, donate the books you no longer need at home, and students will have the opportunity to bring home new-to-them books the week before Spring Break!
Clothing Drive
A Clothing Drive benefiting the PPS/PTA Clothing Center, which furnishes age-appropriate clothing to any PPS student in need, is coming! From January 30th - February 3rd, bring gently used, clean clothing for students in sizes 4T through 4X to fit the pre-school child up to the high school student to school to donate. Look for Harvey at pick up or drop off, or bring bagged donations to the big blue bin inside the front door of the school. For more details on what is and is not accepted, check your student’s backpack for a flier, or click here.

Upcoming Author/Illustrator Visit <REPEAT>
Here is a link for book ordering: Visiting Author Zoey Abbott Book Buying Link
If you purchase using this link, you will need to be sure to fill-in your shipping address even though the books are being hand delivered to your school. This step is necessary for the order to process. Please select your school’s name under "Calculate Shipping Cost." This allows us to know what book orders are for your school.
All books ordered through this link will be signed and doodled by Zoey Abbott. If you would like your signed book personalized to a certain name, please write clearly in the comment box to whom they would like the book dedicated. For example, “Please sign this book to Ella”. Please write the child’s teacher in the comment box so that the books can be distributed easily. Deadline for submitting their orders will be Monday, February 6th, 2023. This will allow us enough time to get the books ordered, organized, and signed in time for your school presentation.
Thank you and happy reading! Questions? Email Ms Audel at saudel@pps.net.
