5th Grade Math with Mrs. Vandever
This week your first priority is to complete Math Interim 1in USA Test Prep. It is to be done by yourself. Take your time. The interim covers all the math concepts we have taught in semester 1. It is important to take your time and do your best so we can have an accurate picture of what you have learned and what you still need some extra practice. There are no new OLS lessons this week. Be sure you have checked the grade book and have completed any missing assignments for both OLS lessons and TGAs. Did you complete the Go Formatives assigned last week? The links are below. The rest of the week, I want you to work in Stride Math Academy. You should be practicing at least 20 minutes a day when it is on the daily plan.
We will be working on problem solving during class connect sessions. Be sure to attend class connect live if at all possible. I'll see you in class!

5th Grade Science with Mr. McIntosh
Looking Back –
We managed to do a great review for the Semester One assessment even though we could only meet one time this week. We discussed the primary TEKS that have been covered and practiced some STAAR questions that showed the topics and information for both the semester exam and interim test that will be available between Friday, 12/7 and Friday, 12/14.
Looking Ahead -
To give students more time to complete their interim exams in USA Test Prep, I have only assigned the last two lessons of Unit 7 between now and the winter break which explore the Formation of Fossil Fuels. I will assign an assessment in USA Test Prep to reinforce the reading and questions from the textbook for those lessons. We will also do activities in our Class Connect sessions to put our understanding of these topics into real work applications that are so important.
Special Note: There is an opportunity for extra credit in USA Test Prep. (See TGA's below)
Science of Space for the Week: Since we are studying the moon as our only natural satellite, compare the gravity on the moon to that of Earth. At only 16.5% of the Earth’s gravity, a 100 lb. human would weigh less than 17 lbs. on the moon. What would you weigh on the Moon? Check out this website to find more interesting facts about our moon.
