The school is not authorized to hand out OTC medication unless a form is on file in the office. This form does not carry over from year to year. A new form needs to filled out each year. Please print and fill out the form below if you'd like your child to receive OTC medication at school.

Dear parents of new students and/or 7th and 12th grade students:

A letter has been sent home this week to those students’ parents /guardians who have not turned in proof of their child’s vaccination(s). This is a state requirement therefore it is extremely important that we abide by the rules. Our report deadline is October 15th. It is imperative to have all records in before this date. If your child has a medical reason and cannot be vaccinated, a waiver must be filled out (every year) and put on file.

We'd like to remind parents of our policy on school tardies. Students are required to be in homeroom prepared and ready for the day at 7:30. Any student arriving after 7:30 will be considered tardy and will need to sign in at office to receive a pass for class. A student's 2nd school tardy each quarter will results in a detention.

The following is taken from the Student Handbook.

ATTENDANCE & TARDIES

Report a Junior High School Student Absence: (419) 823-4381 Press 6, Then Press 2

Punctual and regular attendance at school is extremely important. If it is necessary for a student to be absent from school, a parent /guardian must call the school office before 9:00 a.m. to inform the school of the student's absence and the reason for it. Absences fall under two categories: excused and unexcused. All student attendance issues must be handled by the student's parent/guardian. Students are not permitted to write their own absences or to sign themselves in or out of school.

• Excused Reasons for absence or tardy include:

• Personal illness

• Medical appointment

• Illness in the immediate family

• Death in the family/Death of a relative

• Religious observations/Observance of religious Holidays.

• Quarantine of the home.

• Court subpoena

• College visitation

• An emergency or set of circumstances which, in the judgment of the school, constitutes good and sufficient cause of absence from school

• Unexcused Reasons for absence or tardy include:

• Oversleeping

• Car trouble

• Haircut, beauty shop appointments

• Truancy (see next page)

• Running errands in non emergency situations

• Missing the bus/ride

• Babysitting

• Shopping

• Out-of-school suspension

• Hunting

• Pre-planned absence

• Employment

• Other not listed as excused

TARDIES TO SCHOOL

If you are late to school, you will need official documentation from a parent/guardian or doctor/court. Excused/Unexcused reasons are stated above:

• Consequences for being tardy to school

• 1st tardy - warning, parents contacted

• 2nd tardy - 1hr detention, parents contacted

• 3rd tardy - 1 hour detention, parents contacted

• 4th tardy - 1 hour detention, meeting with parents

• 5 or more tardies - loss of privileges/possible suspension/progressive discipline
  
  

By definition, official documentation includes written notice from a doctor, dentist, hospital, or court. This written notice must state that the student was unable to attend school and must include the beginning and/or ending dates and/or times on official letterhead paper. In most cases, if official documentation is provided, we

excuse those absences when looking at the student's attendance record.

The Mobile Dentist is coming to Otsego on October 30, 2019. If you are interested in having your child examined and teeth cleaned by the dental team please print the form below, fill it out completely and return to school by October 15th. We are still collecting Box Tops for Education until they expire. However, they're phasing the Box Tops that are located on packages. They're going digital. You simply download the app, create an account and pick Otsego Junior High. Once you're all set up you will scan your receipt within 14 days of purchase and they school's account is updated with your Box Tops.

10/22 - Picture Retake day *All students have to have their picture taken for the yearbook, even if they don't purchase pictures.

This year Otsego Local Schools will be honoring different groups of people at each of our home games. The dates and honorees are as follows:

FB -Home Eastwood (Homecoming)

Family Night - Elementary PTO will have games set up near the stadium including bounce houses, and a dunk tank.

Oct 18th

FB - Home Rossford

Military/First Responders - All Active and retired military personnel and first responders will get in free to the game.

Nov 1st

FB - Home Genoa (Senior Night)

Junior High Parents and Students:

Remind101 has been a valuable tool for the office to communicate with parents and students by text and/or email. We use Remind101 for quick reminders and JH deadlines and important events.

However, starting in July, Remind101 is limiting the service they offer for free.

In order for us to continue using the free service we have to separate each class into their own group.

If you are currently signed up for Remind101 for the Junior High you will no longer receive updates using that account as that account has been archived. You will have to re-sign up for the account(s) below that pertain to you.

Yearbook order forms will be sent home in the Spring. Yearbooks will be handed out the last week of school.

The link to access Online Grades is on the Parent tab on the JH page of the Otsego website (otsegoknights.org). Your child's username is their Student ID #. Their password is the first 3 letters for their first name with the first letter capitalized. For example: 12345 Joy
