Letter From Ms. Brito
Dear Washington Family,
We've had another great week of teaching and learning at Washington! The students are settling into routines, and our PBIS (Paws) incentives are underway. Last Friday, we announced our first round of ROARS winners, and we look forward to celebrating class and individual winners tomorrow.
This is a reminder that morning supervision begins at 8:40, and our first bell rings at 8:45. When students arrive, they should line up with their class. The playgrounds and field are closed in the mornings as we do not have adequate supervision to monitor these areas safely. For this same reason, we request that students leave the premises immediately after dismissal. Thank you for your cooperation in following these arrival and dismissal procedures.
I hope you all have a wonderful weekend...the weather looks beautiful so soak up these last days of summer-like weather!
Warmly,
Angie

D64 Primary Challenge Program
Primary Challenge is an enrichment program of services for students from kindergarten through 2nd grade with advanced learning needs in the specific academic areas of reading and math. The program is designed to use a flexible identification process and provide services as students demonstrate need. Our primary challenge teachers just completed the first identification round for Grades 1 and 2. If your student qualifies, families will receive a permission form. The program is intended to be flexible and fluid and students may move in and out of the program through the year. This also means students may qualify one year but not the next. This is to be expected as the academic needs of students in the primary grades can change frequently. Kindergarten evaluations will begin in mid-October and families will be notified in November. The remaining timeline can be found on our PC calendar. If you would like to learn more about the program, please visit the website or view this short video. Our Primary Challenge FAQ will be able to answer any other questions that you may have about testing, qualifying, and identification for Primary Challenge.
