Document Camera
Ipad as Document Camera
If you don't have a document camera consider this option. Log into your Google Meet on your phone or school issued ipad. Mute your mic on your computer and mute your computer so that the only input and output sound is from your phone or ipad. You can still see your students on your computer while you use your phone or ipad as your document camera. You can use a stack of books or purchase something like this to position your phone or ipad for optimal positioning. Click here for a video to see how it is done.
Tip: K/1 students will automatically see your "document camera" because you are the one speaking and the ipads default to show the speaker. 2/3 users you will need to have your students pin the "document camera" by clicking on the little push pin on that selected screen. To "unpin" simply click that push pin icon again to go back to grid view.
OSMO as Document Camera
Below is a video tutorial to help.
How do I present my screen and see my students at the same time?
Can I use a whiteboard during my live teaching?
You can still use a white board, poster or butcher paper to write while teaching in your google meet. It will look backwards on your screen but students will see it the correct way.
If you would like to try a virtual whiteboard check out Jamboard by Google. This an interactive digital whiteboard that can be shared so your students can collaborate with you. Click here to learn more about Jamboard.
BONUS: Google has announced that Jamboard will be INTEGRATED into Google Meet coming soon!
Video Sharing Problems?
a) students can't hear their videos they are sharing
OR
b) there's a bad echo during video sharing
Google has suggested that when you want to present a video for students to watch, make sure that you share a SPECIFIC TAB in Chrome. That SHOULD alleviate the problem!
Can't See Students' Names?
- Click on the Grid in top right corner.
- Make sure that the box beside "Enable Screen Capture Mode" is UNCHECKED.
