I am happy to share that the Buffalo Board of Education approved a refernedum on February 14 to give Westminster a five year Charter renewal going through June of 2029. That means I need you to get the word out to friends and family that Westminster is here to stay. If everyone takes the time to talk to your families and friends about Westminster, we can fill our school once again. Academically Westminster students are doing better than similar BPS schools in terms of student growth and state achievement results. Westminster is the only Community Charter school in Buffalo. We have a fully staff Kaledia clinic, partnerships with Buffalo Promise Neighborhood, M&T Bank, University of Buffalo and so many more that give our students access to experiences and services other schools cannot offer. Please commit to sharing about what Westminster has to offer so we can grow OUR PRIDE.

Re-enrollment packets are due byThursday the 29th. Students who are re-enrolling and have materials turned in on time will receive a WE ARE THE PRIDE tee-shirt. They will be allowed to wear this shirt to school, instead of their uniform shirt, on Friday's moving forward.

These shirts as well as a special certificate will be awarded to students on March 9th from 9-11:30 during our First Annual Commitment to Graduation Ceremony. Our Commitment to Graduation ceremony is a charge to the students to remain in the Westminster Pride and to graduate eighth grade ready for High School success. Here, students and families committing to Westminster Community Charter School will be celebrated. We want to help instill ownership of their school and its culture to the students by memorializing their commitment. They need your help to get this done.

Completing your re-enrollment form is required to remain in the school for the following year. This is how to guarantee your child's seat for the 2024-2025 school year. It is also the time to apply for any new students for next year, including Kindergarteners. We have been talking about the importance of attendance since the summer. Please remember NYS Education Department has defined any student who misses 10% or more school days, as Chronically Absent. Both excused and non-excused absences count towards student being considered Chronically Absent. Non-excused absents, which includes all absences we do not receive a written excuse for as well as those, such as vacation or transportation that NYS does not consider excused. Missing just two days a month of school―for any reason― can be a problem for kids in a number of ways. Children who are chronically absent in kindergarten and first grade are less likely to read on grade level by the third grade. For older students, being chronically absent is strongly associated with failing at school―even more than low grades or test scores. When absences add up, these students are more likely to be suspended and drop out of high school. Chronic absenteeism is also linked with teen substance use, as well as poor health as adults.

Please help support your scholars educational success by having them at school, all day, everyday.
