Music Technology at CTS
Music Technology Project
24 Year 9 students made a fantastic start to their music technology project this week, working with Mr Calcott and Miss Orestano from Northamptonshire Music and Performing Arts Trust to learn how to use the software Cubase. The project has been sponsored by the Travis Perkins Foundation and the equipment they are using is a professional standard. In the first session, students recorded in a diatonic chord sequence, and have made a start to creating their own compositions. We are incredibly proud of the engagement of these students in their first session, and look forward to hearing their finished pieces later in the year.
Piano and Guitar Lessons
Piano and Guitar lessons have all started this week with our peripatetic music teachers from the Northamptonshire Music and Performing Arts Trust. The students involved have since been practising their skills at lunchtime in the practice rooms. We are hoping that some of them will be working towards graded examinations at the end of the year.
Drumming Club
On Friday, drumming club performed in the theatre at lunchtime to their teachers and peers. The performance was a huge success and we are hoping that as a result of this, we may have some new members joining next week. This takes place on a Thursday from 8-8.30 in the music room. You don’t need any prior experience to join so come along if you are interested.
For any details about music activities, please contact Miss Jenkins.
School News:
Next week sees the exciting launch of the after school lecture programme "Beyond the Classroom". This is an opportunity for students to come along after school and learn something they might not come across in their everyday curriculum, from the psychology of music to understanding how humans made it to the moon! The first lecture takes place on Wednesday at 4.15pm - 5pm in the Lecture Theatre and will focus on Schema and the Psychology Behind Learning. If you'd like any more information, please speak to Miss Fenner.
