Reading Success Plans
Early literacy education is critical to a student’s long-term academic success. Therefore, it is important to identify students who have a substantial reading deficiency or are at risk for reading disabilities, such as dyslexia, as early as possible. Early identification allows educators to provide instructional support targeted to individual student needs, to monitor student progress and response to instruction over time, and to adjust instruction as needed.
This year, we will be implementing reading success plans (RSPs) for K-3 students needing additional support. These plans have become requirements set forth by Senate Bill 681. We will be using iReady assessment data to determine which students need additional support and the areas in which support are needed. All parents will receive their child's i-Ready score reports in the upcoming weeks. A letter will be attached indicating additional supports that may be put in place to help your child succeed.
Mrs. Burns and Mrs. Bishop plan to have parent informational meeting to share more information regarding Senate Bill 681 and Reading Success Plans. Be on the lookout for a date and time!

All parents (grades K-5) are welcome to join Home & School! This is our version of a PTA and provides an opportunity for parents to become involved with the school by taking leadership in planning yearly teacher appreciation incentives, extra-curricular events, and support for students and teachers.
