Dear Parents / Carers,
It has been another great week at Kirk Fenton! The many coughs and colds seem to be finally on their way out, and we have all enjoyed the feeling of spring in the air on the playground.
The year 6 children have been away all week at a centre in the North Yorkshire Moors having a fantastic time doing everything from canoeing, to abseiling to caving. I was lucky enough to spend some time with them there, and I was hugely impressed at the resilience and fantastic attitudes on display, as well as the kindness and compassion they showed each other as they faced different challenges throughout the week. It has been a week they will remember for years to come.
Rashford class had a volunteer from the Towton Battlefield Society in on Wednesday to help them understand more about this local historical event. They had a great morning exploring the past through artifacts and imagining what it was like on the battlefield. Thunberg class delighted us with a fantastic class assembly this morning that they had worked hard to prepare for. Thank you to all the parents & carers who were able to come and watch. Well done Thunberg!
Next Tuesday is Internet Safety Day, when we will be thinking about this important area of children's lives. It is becoming increasingly apparent the impact it can have on children's mental and physical health if they spend too much time online, so we will be spending time discussing how to use the internet safely and the possible consequences of too much screen time.
We are very sorry to be saying goodbye to Abbie Clark next Friday. She has been a fantastic member of our team for several years and is heading to an exciting new role in education. Her new place of work is very lucky to be getting her.
Have a lovely weekend.

We have had a competition this week to see which class is working hardest on their maths skills at home. We were so impressed to see each class improving their efforts but the runaway winners were Attenborough with a staggering 809 minutes of practise between them this week. They will enjoy their extra playtime next week.
Our Numbots superstars this week are Aston M, Jaxon M, Holly S-W, Harry B, Hallie P and Jermaine. Well done! This week's Rockstars of the week are Seb E, Thomas D, Aoibhe M, Alex E, Will G and George B. Well done everyone!
Pre-loved Uniform
We have lots of pre-loved uniform in all ages so if you are need of anything, or could do with some spares, please call in to the office and we'll see if we can help.
Forest School Items Request
As a school we are looking to further develop our Forest School area to provide new opportunities for the children. We were wondering if anyone has any of the following that you no longer require and would be happy to donate to the school:
- Old guttering of any length or style (Half round or full pipes)
- Wood Stumps
- Large logs (for sitting around the fire)
- Old tarpaulins (doesn't matter if the odd hole in it, it will be for den building)
If so, please could you contact the school or come and speak to Mr Symes (Year 4) before or after school. Mr Symes will be happy to come and collect if you are unable to get it to school
Thank you for your ongoing support.
