Jessica Kitterman receives 2022 AEA Human and Civil Right Award
The Arizona Education Association (AEA) recently awarded Jessica Kitterman, an ELL Specialist at Puente de HĂłzhĂł Elementary School, with the 2022 AEA Human and Civil Rights Award.

CHS, FHS play baseball game at Chase Field in Phoenix
Coconino High School and Flagstaff High School played a baseball game April 19 at Chase Field in Phoenix with Coconino coming out on top with a score of 4-3.
The Arizona Diamondbacks invited the schools to play a game at Chase Field at no cost for fans to attend or park.

Arizona Cardinals host Kids Camp at Marshall Elementary School
Students at Marshall Elementary School received a visit from the Arizona Cardinals and their mascot Big Red on April 1. The Arizona Cardinals Kids Camp chose Marshall Elementary for their event where they featured several non-contact football activities.
According the Arizona Cardinals Kids Camp, the organization is a grassroots community outreach program designed to teach youth football skills in a non-contact environment. The program conveys a message of teamwork and personal best while reinforcing the importance of education and physical activity.

41st Annual Flagstaff High School Pow Wow
The Flagstaff High School Native American Club hosted their 41st Annual Flagstaff High School Pow Wow on April 22-23, 2022, in the FHS gym.
Students win in art and essay contests, Black History Month
The 2022 African Diaspora Advisory Council (ADAC) Black History Month announced their art and essay contest winners February 25, 2022. The contest winners are Sula Smith for K-4 Essay, Azuul Ruiz Bergner for 5-6 Essay, and Ashley DeRonge for 5-6 Art.

New preschools opening at Killip and Thomas Elementary Schools for school year 2022-2023
In an effort to expand options for families for the 2022-2023 school year, the Flagstaff Unified School District (FUSD) will be opening two new preschool programs.

FUSD elementary schools receive Strider X14 bikes
Students at Thomas Elementary School and Marshall Elementary School are striding away on bikes thanks to a grant from the Catena Foundation which provided Strider X14 bikes to all FUSD elementary schools through a program called All Kids Bikes.
