We Are Called
Oct. 22, 2021
From Mrs. Rhodes
Next week is the last week of October. Why does time go so fast? This Sunday we celebrate the 30th Week of Ordinary time - only 4 weeks until Advent starts. This month the students have been hearing about how "We are called to Serve." In November our Parish will have numerous ways for us to serve others through specific drives during the holidays. Help your students experience the joy of giving by planning to participate in these activities. Thanks for all you do to make our parish great.
First quarter report cards are ready to be viewed in the portal. You just log in, click on a student and go to see report card. Please let us know if you need help or need it printed and sent home.

The end time depends on how many attend, but usually ends sometime in the 6:00-hour. Refreshments are served at check-in. At least one adult sponsor from your school is in the room with each team, but (s)he cannot compete or actively coach during the round. Yes, parents are welcome to watch the rounds!

Help the Counselor
Hi Sacred Heart parents and families!
The counseling department is looking for parent, grandparent, high school volunteers to help with building wide programs such as Peace week (our anti-bullying celebration held in November), the Kindness Kansas Citian contest and reception held in the spring, and developing a student council/leadership team for upper elementary and middle school students. If you are feeling called to actively support our Sacred Heart school community in any of these ways, please contact me. I look forward to collaborating with you about how we can help our students grow in great Christian character and build the kingdom of Heaven.
Please contact Lori Schierts, SHOJ counselor

Gratefully and with great hope in our youth,

Halloween Parade on Oct. 29 at 3
You are invited to attend. Please park in your normal dismissal place. Planning ahead for the Halloween costume parade on Friday, Oct. 29 (weather permitting), the details are as follows: The students will get their costumes on at 2:00 - this will be done in the classroom without changing out of their clothes. After the parties end at 3, we will start with kindergarten and go in grade order to the courtyard exiting the middle school doors. After all the grades are outside, starting again with kindergarten, they will parade through the other students (and parents) for regular dismissal. If you are planning on attending, please try to park in your normal spots so the teachers can find you.
It will be a free dress day but students won't be able to be in costume all day. They need to be able to quickly add to their free dress for their costume. I understand that this may mean some modifications such as no make-up, etc. but the students will get to enjoy each other's complete costumes at Trunk or Treat and Halloween. Please NO scary, gory, bloody costumes or weapons for the parade.
Finally, remember only those that signed up to help will be able to be in school for the parties.

Yearbook Photos
Dear CYO Fall Sports Coaches,
Michele Coffey partners with me to get the CYO sports teams’ group shots into the yearbook. If you would like to make arrangements with her to get your team picture taken, her contact information is mcoffey1234@icloud.com
If you are not having Michele Coffey take your team’s photo, it is extremely important that you take a group photo of your team and email it to me to include in the yearbook. I am sending this out before the end of the season, so that you will have time to plan ahead and get a good “group shot” of your team in their uniforms. Once the season ends, it is very difficult to track down a well-lit photo with everyone in it. Generally, smaller teams have 2 rows of players, and larger teams have 3 rows. We love to have the coaches in the group shot, also!
If you are receiving this for Cross Country, please take team shots grouped by grade level (example: all the 4th graders in one shot) and send me one group photo of each grade that has participants.
Please send your team photo to: ami.barragree@shoj.org Include in the subject line the grade, sport, and coach’s name so we have the right information to put in the yearbook. It is important to send a “large” or “full size” photo, so that it is not grainy when we include it in the yearbook. If you send a photo, and do not receive a response “thank you” email from me within one school day, please check with me to see if it came through – occasionally our school spam filter catches emails with photo attachments & doesn’t send them through to me.
Thank you so much for all you do to support our youth in sports! We want to ensure that no team is left out of this year’s school yearbook.
God bless you!
Mrs. Ami Barragree
