AUGUST BIRTHDAYS!!!
The month of August is dominated by the zodiac sign, Leo, with the last few days falling under Virgo. People born between July 23 and August 21 are considered Leos, whereas, those whose birthdays fall between August 19 and 23 are said to be born on the Leo-Virgo cusp. People born under these two astrological categories differ from each other to a certain degree. A Leo possesses a positive outlook towards life and is very enthusiastic and is full of life. He/she is proud and determined and is also a great achiever who sets examples for others. Leos are genuine friends and are extremely loyal in their relationships. Leos are born leaders and whether consciously or unconsciously, they like to rule. They are brave and fearless when it comes to confrontation and are natural leaders. They take pride in themselves and possess an extreme sense of supremacy, just like the Lion itself.

10 back to school tips from the NCA Staff
Let’s give a big cheer for a new school year!
Summertime is coming to a close and the first day of school is quickly approaching! While your team is preparing for pep rallies and game day, we want to prepare you to have the strongest school year ever both on the sidelines and in the classroom. Here are 10 back to school tips from the #NCAstaff to help you have the best year yet!
Be Yourself
- Don’t let others opinions hold you back from trying new things! You never know if the risk you take will end up being your new passion. @nca_payton
- Live in the moment and appreciate each day, no matter how easy or difficult it may seem. These days fly by and someday you’ll be wishing to go back! So enjoy it while you have it! @nca_alysia
- No matter what, be yourself and do what makes you happy. Open yourself up to new things, new opportunities and new adventures. @nca_dumo
- Say yes to new opportunities! You are the only YOU in the world, be yourself always. Be open to everything around you, you might learn something new! @nca.valerie
Get Involved
- Say hi to everyone you see! Whether you know them or not, apply the 5 feet apart rule. If you come in contact with someone that’s 5 feet away or closer… ALWAYS SAY HI! You never know how much it can change someone’s day. @nca_sarah
- Be a better version of yourself from the year before and don’t be afraid of change. Meet new friends no matter what grade you are in and study more to improve your grades as you start thinking about college. Get involved! You only have one high school experience – make it count! @ncaronnie
Encourage Others
- Encourage your teammates to work hard in school! If you have time in-between school and practice, get all your teammates to work on homework in the cafeteria! Put on some chill music and help each other work through projects and papers together. @nca_lindsey
- Practices, games and schoolwork can get overwhelming at times, but don’t be afraid to ask for help. In the classroom or in life! @nca_marley
- Remember to show appreciation to others! Bring popsicles to the cross-country race, or nominate some spirited teachers to cheer with you during third quarter. Little acts of kindness early on will bring your student body closer and set the tone of positivity for the rest of the year. @nca_rachel
COACHES CORNER
Hey There Knight Cheer Fam!
We are just 9 days away from Back 2 School!! PLEASE check the calendar and notice the change in practice schedule! We have transitioned to evening practices on M, W, and Friday! You will see that we will be having a Varsity and a Frosh(9-11th grade) competition team this year. We will be holding a tryout towards the end of this month to fill some spots on each team. If you are currently in the program and would like to compete, you will have the opportunity as long as you can fully commit to the competition practice schedule which will include some Saturdays(more concrete schedule coming soon). My assistant coaches and I will begin cracking down on absences and tardiness from practices which may begin to effect your participation in games/the program. Parents, please continue to encourage good practice attendance and schedule appointments during off practice days. The SMHS coaching staff appreciates your support and collaboration on this!
Please make note of coaches and booster parent communication hours of business. Since a lot of us are in education, as the school year begins I ask that you please refrain from text messaging and/or calling outside of the hours of 9am-5pm. Email is always fine outside the hours of 9am-5pm. Also, please note that some of us may not be able to respond immediately during the school day. If you are trying to get ahold of me during the school day, email is best! Thank you for your understanding and cooperation! Please let me know if you have any questions.
If you have not joined the BAND yet, please do so as soon as possible! The Band APP will be our new mode of communication. Remind will no longer be used after 8/15.
Looking forward to a great week!!
Remember to Keep it Classy and GOOOOO KNIGHTS!!
