Announcements & Updates

- Wednesday, November 23, is a minimal day schedule (1:00 dismissal). Lunch will not be served. School will be closed on November 24 & 25 in observance of Thanksgiving.


- A reminder to parents that marking period 1 report cards were released to the Parent Portal last Friday, November 14.


- 8th grade parents: If your child is attending the 8th grade trip to Gettysburg/Hershey and you have yet to review the communication from Mrs. Toth emailed November 8, please do so as it contains a payment schedule and instructions for purchasing trip insurance.


- With winter athletics starting November 29, please be reminded that all sporting events, cancellations, etc... are posted to the Mountain View website calendar and Daily Bulletin. The calendar is available on both the website and the app, while the bulletin can only be viewed on the mobile app.


- A note about lunch accounts: You can access your child's daily lunch balance through the Genesis Parent Portal. In the portal, you will only be able to see the overall balance, not an itemized list of purchases. To see an itemized list, please log on to the Payschool Central account to view your child's daily transactions. The Payschool Central link is: www.payschoolscentral.com. The itemized list of purchases is under "Reports" on the right side, then select "Meal/ A la Carte," select your student, then date range.


- For parents needing to pick up their child early from an after-school activity, please inform both the club advisor and Mrs. McGarry via email as the Main office may not be staffed after 4:00 p.m. Note that for access to the building after school hours, please ring the "Night Bell."

A note from Ms. Walsh

Happy Friday Moutain View! We had quite an exciting day. We are so fortunate to have had Dr. Matt Bellace, clinical neuropsychologist and stand-up comedian, at Mountain View for an assembly. He’s the author of two books, contributing author for National Geographic Kids, and was recently featured in a PBS documentary series called “Voices of Hope.” Dr. Bellace has spoken throughout the United States to elementary, middle, and high schools as well as to parents, corporations, and the Military. He shared this morning that he just returned from speaking at two different boarding schools in Switzerland. Dr. Bellace’s presentation was titled “The Resilience to Rise Above.” Dr. Bellace touched upon the power of positive support systems, overcoming challenges and disappointment, having outlets such as meditation and music to help our minds, and discovering different things that give us serotonin or ‘natural highs’ such as dancing, hiking, surfing, and being with friends. Matt had the incredible skill of weaving his experience as a stand-up comedian into very important topics of conversation to keep the students engaged and laughing while learning.

Today was also an Advisory day! During EEE, students were given the opportunity to reflect on Matt’s presentation and discuss different ways that we can apply what we learned to both school and our personal lives. We finished up our week with some challenging brainteasers to kick off the weekend. Please check out the pictures captured from our assembly below.
