Message from the Principal
Dear ALMS Families,
I trust this message finds you well and in good spirits. This past week has been nothing short of exceptional here at our school as we celebrated Red Ribbon Week. It was a time filled with enthusiasm, unity, and an unwavering commitment to promoting a drug-free lifestyle while nurturing kindness within our hearts.
Throughout the week, our students and staff wholeheartedly embraced the Red Ribbon spirit, exemplifying the values of responsibility and empathy. We saw our halls come to life with vibrant displays of unity – from donning our favorite team jerseys to showcasing friendship through matching outfits. We cozied up in our pajamas, danced through the decades, and adorned ourselves in red to proudly display our ALMS pride. The sheer enthusiasm and unity within our school community were nothing short of heartwarming.
In addition, we have reason to celebrate the incredible initiative led by our very own Student Council and Mrs. Fata. Their tireless efforts resulted in our second annual blood drive, which welcomed 34 life-saving donors. We extend our deepest gratitude to all the participants, including parents and community members, who generously contributed. It's a testament to our students' unwavering commitment to supporting worthy causes, and we couldn't be prouder.
As we continue to instill the values of responsibility, empathy, and community engagement in our students, we look forward to the upcoming week when we don pink to raise awareness for Breast Cancer. As a school community, we are steadfast in our commitment to nurturing a culture of care, kindness, and unity.
Your continued support means the world to us, and we eagerly anticipate another week of growth and meaningful experiences with our extraordinary students.
Warm regards,
Camille Edwards-Thomas

Summary of events for Red Ribbon Week
8th grade students participated in a Red Ribbon Week Refusal skills assembly done by New Rochelle High School S.A.D.D (Students Against Destructive Decisions) club. Students learned what refusal skills are and watched different skits that had them pause and think of what a good response would be to get out of that situation. The purpose of this assembly was to have high schoolers speak to our students about the importance of making good decisions and learning how to get out of a situation without ruining the friendship. 8th graders will continue to learn about peer pressure and refusal skills later in the school year as Ms.Loaiza our Student Assistance Counselor pushes into their health classes.Thank you to Ms.Palmisano, Ms.Paternoster and all the S.A.D.D club students for teaching our students such an important skill.
8th graders in Mr.Binenbaum's health classes participated in a Escape the Vape escape room where they went through clues learning about the dangers of vaping nicotine or marijuana.
7th grade students in Mrs.Bongo's, Mr. Saglibene's, and Mr.Torchon's classes received a lesson on managing stress given by Ms.Loaiza. Students learned about identifying stressors, physical signs of stress on the body and using coping skills and time management skills to help manage and reduce stress.
Siwanoy 7th Grade Field Trip: Taconic Nature Center
The seventh grade Siwanoy cluster went to the Taconic Nature Center where students worked on multiple team building activities. Students got to get to know their classmates outside of the classroom all while developing communication and cooperation skills!
